Re: Site Issues Since Saturday
Sorry if I raised any hopes only to be let down
So now it's 5 hours later and I am under exactly the same conditions, loading the same pages.
I changed to Brighthand New with posts set at 20 and now it works perfectly
Plain Style with posts set to Forum Default (10 posts) works perfectly as well.
I tried it again because I wanted to save and compare the Page Source of a problem page and a perfect page, although I must admit I have no idea what I was looking for, just hoping something would jump out and bite me I guess.
But then, I am sure the tech folks have already done something like that anyway.

Re: Site Issues Since Saturday
No worries, Woz,you were just trying to help (as you always do). All data is good data. This thing is going to be hard to pin down, so we don't know what will end up helping. Report anything and everything and, eventually, maybe we'll get lucky.

Re: Site Issues Since Saturday
For what it's worth, I went to the first page of this thread in the plain skin and grabbed the source code. It does indeed end exactly where the page stopped loading, which I guess isn't surprising. Have no idea if it offers any clues, but since the admins can't do this I thought I'd offer it up, just in case.

Re: Site Issues Since Saturday
I just had to change my user settings from 40 posts per page to 30 in order to be able to read the last entries (and no, it does not show in the notification mail since additional updates were made afterwards).
Annoying...Digital since 1980, handheld since 2001

Re: Site Issues Since Saturday
Using Plain Style, I don't have any problems loading threads, but sometimes when I go to do a new post search, it will tell me that there are no new messages, even when there are. It also does this sometimes, albeit less often, if I hit "today's posts."

Re: Site Issues Since Saturday
I'm at work, so not able to search, to get the specifics, so please excuse....
I was thinking, whats the big difference between BH and all the other TechTarget fora, and what struck me was, the takeover by BarginPDA (is that the right name?). I know I'm grabbing at straws, here, but hey! I'm one of those unpaid volunteers trying to keep a good thing going, while reaping untold benefits from just being here

Re: Site Issues Since Saturday
something else that's different from http://forum.notebookreview.com is that one doesn't need to be logged in to access the Off-Topic forum; not sure if I'd mentioned this before, it feels familiar
same for Desktop Computing
fwiw, similar problem to BH, at
http://forum.digitalcamerareview.com/
if I don't use the Mobile Version skin, I get very little to look at, very similar to whats going on here (Brighthand).
above observations are while at work, where my problem is. I'll re-visit these fora tonight from my rent-a-room and see if things are normal (I expect they will be).My useful BH links -- BH FAQS/repair options/digitizer discussions

Re: Site Issues Since Saturday
while trying to find a moderator to deal with our latest spammer, it occurred to that all my problems occurred while logged in; while logging out seems to help, it does not completely solve the problem.
