And now there appears to be this:

http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/20...than-print.ars

Apple is clearly hot for video now, considering the recording capabilities of the 3GS and nano and the rumors of addition to the touch. Oh, and the expansion of the iMac monitor to 27" (that's only 5" smaller than my TV!) and the inclusion of HDMI in.

People still like to read, though, clearly, and neglecting that would be a mistake on this device, methinks.

Unless Apple is going with what I mentioned earlier, and just sitting back and letting Amazon/BN/Stanza take care of the eBook market. If it gets very popular they can strike a deal to sell their ebooks in-store thru iTunes, but they don't get their hands dirty with the risks of the publishing market.

I didn't realize the new iMac had HDMI IN! I'll have to check that out; but that puzzles me even more. Why accommodate HDMI in, and not have HDMI out (for the iMac, not to mention the freshened Mac Mini or laptops?).

I beg your pardon! I misspoke about the HDMI in. I don't know where I read it, but I know I did read about it. Perhaps the authors of what I read were confused with this

"supports input from external DisplayPort sources (requires cables and adapters, sold separately)"

which comes right from the 27" tech specs page.

Does DisplayPort support Hi Def? I'm pretty sure it does.

The AppleTV has HDMI out. I'm looking at it right now.

Sorry about that.

Thanks Robb. I didn't realize that AppleTV had HDMI out (which makes their other port decisions even more bizarre); but the AppleTV doesn't appeal to me.
