Default HotSync Coming to the MotionApps Classic Palm OS Emulator

MotionApps announced today that it's adding HotSync to its Palm OS emulator for the Palm Pre. This will allow users to synchronize the data stored in the virtual Palm with a PC.

MotionApps ClassicThis feature is still being tested, but the company says it works with with standard Palm Desktop software that is shipping with Centro and other Palm OS devices.

When it's released, the new version of the Classic emulator will be able to perform HotSync operations over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connections.

Some of the features that HotSync will bring include:

  • Synchronize contacts, calendar, notes, tasks and other PIM data between the Pre and desktop computer  -- including standard support for syncing contacts and calendar with Microsoft Outlook
  • Palm OS users can more easily migrate their data and applications from Palm OS phones to the Pre
  • Use custom conduits and desktop applications that sync their data between desktop and phone through HotSync
  • Back-up Palm OS data and applications on desktop computer

MotionApps does not when a version of Classic with HotSync capabilities will be released, but it will be included in one of the upcoming updates as a free upgrade for all current users.
