Default New Version of MotionApps' Palm OS Emulator for Palm Pre offers Sound, Other Enhancements

MotionApps has released Classic 1.1, a new version of its emulator that allows the Palm Pre to run Palm OS apps. This adds support for sound, as well as a number of other enhancements.

As the Pre is not going based on the old Palm OS, it isn't be able run applications written for the older operating system. MotionApps Classic helps fill in this gap.

MotionApps Classic

Now Fingertip Friendly
The latest version -- Classic 1.1 --  also offers other new features besides sound support.

The Palm Pre was designed to be used with a fingertip, but many Palm OS app have small elements designed to be tapped on with a stylus. Classic now lets users enlarge sections of the screen, so they can use a fingertip to select small items.

Alarms, Too
This version of Classic is also the first that can notify users that an alarm in the Palm OS calendar has gone off when the emulator is running in the background. It can't do the same when this app is completely closed though.

It also offers improved keyboard behavior and enhanced preferences.

Opening Night Jitters
MotionApps says that Classic 1.1 offers "greatly improved stability" but in reality it has at least one serious bug.

Read Our Palm Pre ReviewThis app allows users to install Palm OS applications and databases by connecting the Palm Pre to a PC via a USB cable. As it stands now, this function has significant problems.

Try It Out
MotionApps Classic 1.1 is available now in the on-device App Catalog. There is a 7-day trial available, or it can be purchased for $29.99.

Default Extend the Trial Period

Classic is an application in the middle of significant change, with new features coming all the time. While that's great, if you tried out Classic the day after you got your Palm Pre and were disappointed by what if offered then, you should try it again now, even if it's only a couple of weeks later. Unfortunately, your trial period is probably over, and your only option is to buy the software. At this point, that's almost a complete shot in the dark.

With each new version, MotionApps needs to re-start the trial period, or far too many people are never going to get a real chance to see what it has to offer.

Used to be Palm devices if you did a hard reset you would get the ability to use a trial period a second time. So does the Pre have an option to do a hard reset to regain the trial test of MotionApps?
