Default Last Chance for an Inexpensive DocsToGo Upgrade

UPDATE: This offer doesn't appear to be publicly available, but is apparently only for those who have pre-registered with DataViz.

DataViz is now offering Palm OS users their last chance to upgrade to Documents To Go Premium at 70% off the regular price.

Palm's handhelds and smartphones come with a basic version of the DocsToGo suite for working with Office documents, and an upgrade to a premium version is available for purchase. This includes features like spell checking in Word files and charting in Excel files.

This normally sells for $29.99 but is available this weekend only for $7.99. DataViz warns this is the last time this price will be offered. The Palm OS is being phased out, so development on its version of DocsToGo is being phased out.

For more information, visit dataviz.com.

Not sure what you mean by pre-registered. I'm not sure what the basis for offering this is, but I have upgraded 3 times in my years with my TX and also own Beyond Contacts. All are registered, but no offer.

Not that I really care, my TX is not my primary handheld any longer, but it's the principal. They should at least make me the offer.

I got the update to v. 11. Didn't notice anything different, except for some templates (and it seems a little faster), but for $7.99... why not? I suspect that this will be the last Palm OS version, and if I plan to keep using Palm OS for a few more years (until the dust settles with Palm), it's probably a good investment for my Treo 680.

I also got an email offering me an upgrade - for the hefty price of $19.99 ($10.00 off.) Nowhere did I see the offer for a lower price. Bummer, and it seems rather arbitrary to me. After all, I upgraded the version that came on TX to version 10 just last year.

I must not be Special enough.

My dear, you are always special. Dataviz are heathens.

I really would be curious what selection criteria they used for this offer. I'm guessing random.

They notified me and I scooped it up. They forced me to purchase, for $2.99, one year or 15 time download insurance. The total came to $10.98- still a great deal.

I upgraded to version 10, and am well registered, and checked the email addy used when I registered; also no offer. Frankly, even for a few dollars, I'd rather spend it elsewhere for my TX, or Zire 31 (poor baby still has that group of orange pixels....)

I got no email either. I have upgraded every year since my T5. I am up to v10 on D2G. Don't really see the need to update even at a good price. My "ole buddy" (T5) has been relegated to reserve status. V10 should be just fine.

We here at BH appreciate quality and so you are, as Hook put it, "always special"

I have never, will never, recommend this horrid company to anyone.
Me: Your product has a well documented problem, when will you fix it ?
DataViz: The problem has been fixed in the latest version, send us money and use that version !

Sorry about that but, there are very few companies I dislike intensely, DataViz is one [Stern emoticon here]

All the best, woz of oz

I agree. Too bad they make a great product, overall.
