Apparently someone at the FCC slipped up, because all the embargoed information on HP's upcoming cellular-wireless Pocket PC is now available on the agency's web site.

A quick comparison.

The hx6500 will be 4.7 inches tall, 2.8 inches wide, and 0.8 inches thick (118 mm by 71 mm by 21 mm). It will weigh 5.8 ounces (165 g).

The Treo 650 is 4.4 inches tall, 2.3 inches wide, and 0.9 inches thick (113 by 59 by 23 mm) and weighs 6.3 ounces (178 grams).

Hey, I didn't know that 1.3MP cameras were confiined to taking 640x480 shots these days.

That's what the user manual says. Clearly.

I was a bit confused myself. About all I can think of is the extra capacity is devoted to video.

I think I see where the confusion is coming from. Here's a screenshot of what's in the manual:

As you can see, it says both SXVGA and 640 x 480. I guess we should assume that the first is the resolution for images and the second is the resolution when taking video, but the manual doesn't make this clear.

p.s. R K, I guess it wasn't so clear, after all. Sorry for getting snippy.
