Arrow Nintendo May Have Licensed the Palm OS

A new rumor says that PalmSource may have added an important new licensee, Nintendo.

wow. this could be big for palmsource. don't know wht the licensing fee would be but any new money from new companies coming in would be good.

This would be interesting if true but it seems higly doubtful somehow. I guess the main reason i doubt this is that Nintendo has always targeted younger gamers - more so then Sony (obvious from their games line-up - but also this is their own statment regarding their market). So it just doesn't make that much sense.

this would be the wet dream of all the Palm board members. if they could actually pull this off it could get their OS in potentially tens of millions of hands.

The key word is potentially. How many of you guys have actually played with a DS. Trying to input anything on that dinky screen is going to be not just a pain in the butt but a HUGE pain in the butt. I honestly don't think most DS users would buy into this.

I don't think they will put full blown Palm functionality out there. Probably PIM synch with the PC. But think of the low cost to Nintendo for functional growth at low cost - MP3, Video, Web browsing...
