Garmin Announces Its First GPS-Enabled Pocket PC

After offering Palm OS models for several years, Garmin has just announced the iQue M5, its first GPS-enabled Pocket PC.

This is bad news for PalmSource. Big question is will Garmin also remain with the Palm OS or does this signal the beginning of the end for Garmin and PS.

While I'm excited by the announcement, I'm a little underwhelmed by the specs. If Garmin would have truly brought out a unique, stand out device, they would have not only included the ubiquitous WiFi, but also a VGA screen - with their mapping software scaled to take full advantage of it.

Hopefully they are already working on such a model - this would be the true "killer" GPS system to beat.

The price also seems a little steep - how much was the Palm version?
