If PalmOne really is planning to introduce a whole line of Treo's going forward, this is a form factor they should be looking at least one of them.

For me a phone really needs to be reliable. It needs to not chew through battery power and can't slow down, lockup, reset, etc. I can't see this not being the case with any Windows CE.net framed product. Why Motorola chose to put that operating system on that phone, I have no idea.

I know it's a very early prototype, but this TI processor is really unproven on Pocket PC's, right? I worry a bit about the performance factor.

What I'm most worried about is 3rd party software performance. They may tweak the core system enough to make it snappy with the OMAP processor, but how long will it take for 3rd party apps (which we all use extensively, obviously) to get ready for this new processor?

This is the only reason I'm still drawn to Intel processors in future devices.

What happens to the "Phone" application and Media Player interfaces when it's in Landscape mode?? They don't seem easily scaleable right now.

I've owned two Pocket PC-based phones: the original XDA and the Samsung i700. Both have been extremely reliable for me (soft resets maybe once every 3-4 weeks, no hard resets whatsoever), and the battery life lasts for days. I don't think we can judge much from this early prototype.

I think we have to wait and see. The iPAQ 1935 and 1945 use Samsung ARM chips, and it performs on par with XScales even at lower clock frequencies.

Even though I've owned several Palms for many years (I've owned a PPC but didn't like it), and I currently have a TE, I'll be jumping ship as soon as this thing comes out.

To me, this is the device, and the declared price of ?750 is reasonable given all the features.

The MPx has only one flaw: it's not available yet.
