These will be welcome enhancements indeed. I just hope that HP steps up to the plate and offers the update for most/all of its models (and my h4155 in particular).

On an unrelated note...Thanks for getting a new picture of yourself. You looked a little psychopathic in the old one, though you still have that odd stare in this new one. Almost like you're looking right at me. Still, a definite improvement.

I think Steve is due for a retake as well. He's also staring at me and he doesn't look as happy as he ought to for running such a successful web site.

PPC will continue to be garbage without M$ changing activesuck. The actual units have gotten better and better, but activesync still is garbage they need to overhaul it. Take a queue from Palm and make it so that the user can choose if the handheld overwrites the desktop or vise versa. I've jumped on every change that they have made hoping for some success. It gets very expensive trying to find that supreme device. I'm keeping my T3 until windollars gets their stuff together.

Their *basic* To Do list for any next update/version:

1) Fix ActiveSync

2) Fix text selecting (double-tap/drag like PalmOS -- and Mac and Windows and *every other* damned OS!)

3) Make alarms reliable

4) Repeating alarms

I mean, that's about the major stuff that prevents *some* PalmOS users from making the final leap to PPC. I will, ahem, mention no names...

Here's my version of their To-Do list to add to yours (Lots of Phone Edition stuff):

- Allow the Inbox program to be backed up and restored without corruption.

- Bring back the "Windows CE Inbox Transfer" functionality... The ability to transfer Draft messages between Outlook and Inbox... The ability to move Sent messages in non-Activesync email accounts to Outlook... The ability to copy certain emails that you want to respond to to the Pocket PC which may be older than your syncing period... The ability to copy/move old SMS messages to a folder in Outlook.

- More user friendly Bluetooth implementation... Options for settings on Paired Bluetooth devices... Multiple Bluetooth Activesync partnerships... Swapable Bluetooth headset definitions. FTP profile in the "Beam File" command.

- "Phone" application skin swaping interface... More highly customizable skinning for Phone application (similar to Media Player's skinning functionalty/implementation).

- Visual listing of Conference call attendee's in Phone application. Tap & Hold interface for hanging up or Holding certain conference call attendees.

- Ability to back-up/syncronize Call History to Outlook Journal.

- SMS Sent Folder should display actual message not subject in the list view. In the SMS message view, it should also display the subject in the subject field.

- Basic MMS support in Inbox for sending file attachments (images, audio, movies) as MMS messages.

- Pocket Streets with GPS routing capabilities that integrates with Microsoft Voice Command for synthesized directions.

- Microsoft Voice Command capabilities for recognition of setting destinations with Pocket Streets.

- The ability to activate Microsoft Voice Command from a Bluetooth Headset, and the ability for Voice Command to recieve input from a Bluetooth Headset.

1. No problem here but I heard many people have.

2. Interestingly enough Palm-size PCs already had this 5-6 years ago!!! I really miss it!!

3. I also miss from Palm-size PCs the ability to set different sound files with any individual alarm. This is very important when you use a PPC to wake up and manage all your appointments: you are either stuck with a soft alarm to wake up by but some other time of the day you have your device in your pocket and the traffic noise will cover your soft alarm; or you use a very loud alarm and that makes you jump to the ceiling in the morning: no good either. So the ability to set a general sound that you can override with an alarm specific one is the only acceptable solution.

4. Agree

Hmm... Not calling it 2004... just a minor upgrade... if this is an exercise in "expectation setting" then I'm expecting to be disappointed.

I'll be surprised if they manage to fix the problem alarms failing to wake up the device.

Even using WakeupTweak from Burr-Oak, which seems to be the solution everyone was leaning toward, I still had problems.

(My experience was that since WakeupTweak only extends the midnight wake-up routine, it only solves the wakeup issue for alarms set for a future date. Set an alarm to go off today, and WakeupTweak doesn't have a chance to do its thing)

Oh well, I'm still glad I "upgraded" to a Palm Tungsten E. I miss the gee-whiz features of my old Toshiba E755, but I like the reliability of Palm.
