Arrow Brighthand Reviews the ASUS MyPal A716

The new MyPal A716 from ASUS does just about everything it can to deliver the features high-end handheld buyers want, including dual forms of wireless networking and two different types of memory card slot.

This device is the same as the FSC Loox 610. Only the Loox has 128 Mb RAM and 64 Mb ROM in the WiFi-BT version.

What software does Asus use to set up Bluetooth? I know the FSC Loox has "Plugfree" which seemed to be very hard to use in the Loox 600 version.

Ahhh, if only it were possible to get the Loox 610 in this country. I couldn't even find one on eBay.

The A716 uses Bluetooth Manager, which is a pretty straightforward application.

How does this compare in size to the 4355? Pictures would be nice...

It is very possible to get the Loox 610 here

You can buy a lot of things NOT available in the USA from the expansys web site. But a lot of times they are fairly expensive (devices cost more in Europe, plus the US dollar is pretty weak right now compared to the UK pound and the Euro.)

$120 for a CF wifi card????

Many great cards can be found under $50.

No SDIO and a lack of memory stick out to me. It also lacks VGA as well.

The Asus 730 is something to look forward to however.

The Loox 610 is easy to get anywhere in the world. There are tons of places happy to ship worldwide. All you have to do is contact them.

Sorry, I don't have an h4355 any more. I had to send my loaner model back months ago. Here's the next best thing, though.

The h4355 next to a NX80V:

And the A716 next to a NX80V:

If you want my personal impression, the h4355 is definitely smaller. But keep in mind it lacks a CF slot.

Thanks, I'd forgotten about expansys. But for $687, you really should get the Toshiba e805 instead.

I always compare list prices, and $119 is the list price of Socket's CF Wireless LAN Card:

From the review.

Incidentally, you can't have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth activated at the same time.
Are there other PPC's w/ BT & WiFi that allow both to be used at the same time? I know it'd drain the battery pretty fast, but I could see myself at a Starbucks using the soon to be released BT keyboard from Think Outside and doing whatever via the WiFi (emails, surfing, IM, etc.).
