Arrow RumorMill?: Toshiba e805, e405 Will Be Announced Today

Toshiba has announced two new handhelds, one of which breaks new ground for the Pocket PC platform by including 480 by 640 pixel (VGA) screens.

The e405 would be much nicer if only it had some sort of wireless option. As it is, this unit gives the iPaq 1940 a run for its money, since now you can choose between BlueTooth and small size, or VGA resolution for the same price. Further, the Toshiba probably doesn't have any yellowing.

I wonder if I should cancel my Amazon order for the 1935... nah. We still have no idea whether the new machines have button problems, slowness or battery life issues--which, all things considered, are likely. Not even the Tungsten T|3 got out the door without problems.

When you say that "Toshiba is expected to announce later today..." where would I be able to read/see/hear that announcement?

I'm currently in the process of deciding which PDA to buy. Up till now the IPAQ h1940 was the one I decided upon but then I read about the higher resolution on the new Toshiba's. And that is what I want most of all in a PDA, a higher resolution than QVGA.

So I can't wait to hear how people react to the new resolution, the bugs that will undoubtedly accompany it and above all how long I will have to wait before I can buy it!

So where do I go to see the Toshiba announcement?

Toshiba introduced the E800 and E400 in France last Monday. French site Mobi-Mania just published a review of the E800 (here with some pictures.

Hey Ed! The Toshiba e400/e405 does not have VGA. You can verify this from the detailed-specs PDF files on Toshiba's Website.

I dont agree here what it says in Toshiba's own site

"the Pocket PC e800/805 features a bright, 4.0" diagonal (240x320) or (480x640, user switchable**) color display for easy readability both indoors and outdoors."

Yes, but where's your source? Any links?

The e805 will have dual slots: CompactFlash Type II and SD/MMC. It will include a 2640 mAh battery.
Wouldn't the 2640 mAh battery be an extended one? According to this site, the included battery on the e805 will be 1320 mAh. 2640 mAh would be massive for a standard battery.
