Brighthand Reviews the Sony PEG-UX50
I found a lot to like in Sony's latest high-end handheld... but a lot to dislike as well.

Great review, Ed, as always. BUT...
Regarding your statement:
The UX50's display has the same resolution as Sony's NX series, 320 by 480 pixels, a resolution not yet matched by any other Palm OS or Pocket PC manufacturer.
Aren't you forgetting the Garmin iQue?

Not to mention the T|3
Great review Ed! For me, the small screen and the large price make it a no go.

I realize there's a touch of sophistry here but you can't actually get a Zodiac yet. It won't be available until the middle of October. And the T3 is still in the rumor stage. Sony is currently the only company to be shipping handhelds with a 320x480 screen.
Still, I take your point and I cut the line.

Rob, as I said, I removed the line.
And Garmin deserves to be forgotten. They never coughed up a loaner device for me to review. (I'm kidding, I'm kidding!)

We are well aware of Brighthand's policy on "rumors", but there is overwhelming empirical evidence that the T3 has been in people's hands for a while.

Thanks to its graphics accelerator chip, the UX50 can play video at 30 fps at 320 by 240 pixels, a feat not matched by any other handheld.
Ed, I pointed this out in another thread. PPCs have been running 30fps video at that resolution for a while. My 1945 does it, the 2215 does it - just about any PXA-255 PPC can do it with no problem (DivX or MPEG1).
