The hooplah over MMX that Intel was spouting at the time made it sound like the second coming of the PC. I was more trying to point fun at how silly that seems in retrospect, considering the first things out (in terms of games) were Unreal and Pod. Both of which gained little improvement in speed or graphics.

Of course, MMX instructions have become more mainstream, especially since it's been, what, 5 years? But it most definately wasn't the Second Coming it was made out to be. At least this time, with the XScale chips, they're not making as huge a deal about it.

Then again, anything that helps make PocketPCs faster and more responsive has to be good.
