I hope that was irony.
It's quite shameless that MS tries to foist even more restrictions on the poor people who've been suckered into investing money on MS-format books. And hides that away on page 389 of the EULA, no less.
Still, anybody who pays for their ebooks themselves has long ago left the MS reader for greener pastures - formats that don't actively try to rob the users of their money and bought property.

Can anyone else....
Is it just me, or is anyone else having problems getting to the free books on the Microsoft website?

I can open them fine on my PC's version of MS Reader, but how do I download the actual .lit file so I can copy it over to my Pocket PC?

I am also unable to download the books. What the **? After automatic upgrade there was no way to download the books. It just keeps shooting you back to the upgrade page??? Go figure. Hopefully they will figure this out!

Hmm... I can't even view them in the desktop reader! I click on the link to download a book, get the file download box as it downloads the *.lit file, then that closes and Reader opens up, but without the book I'd just downloaded in my library!

I was able to download and install the new versions on my PC and iPAQ 5455, and as much as it pains me to say it, the PPC version is much faster; not as fast as the Palm Reader or MobiPocket, but at least now its competative. As for the added security, it was overcome once, it will be again.
