Wow, too bad that's 8 months away. I guess this isn't the X3 and X7 we've been hearing about then? Knowing Dell though, they'll come out with the latest inovations integrated into these handhelds at an industry leading low price.

What is interesting is the fact that Good Tech is hedging its bets and has made agreements make its technology work on both PPC's and PalmOS pda's. Thsi is unlike RIM which, if I'm not mistaken, has only made such agreements with PPC platform? Although RIM has also teamed up w/symbian licensees as well...

Default What does this bode for remainder of '03?

Not good news. I wonder if Dell means by this message that there will not be an X7 this year. HMMMM. In any event, nothing encouraging in the announcement about 03 being a good year for PPC.

OK.... This is the one thing that I've been waiting for ever since I stopped service on my RIM. (got tired of carrying 2 devices around with me, and the PPC was far superior)

Combine the strengths of always-on, always-connected email and web surfing with the power of PocketPC and you've got one killer device. I can imagine a whole world of possibilities opening up here, especially if Microsoft is smart and includes ways to locate your position in an SDK. I know that with my Blackberry, it was possible to determine your current zip code based upon the tower ID the device was connected to...

I can see apps that push information to you, depending upon your preferences, the time, and your current location. Want to find a good Italian restaurant within 10 miles of your current location and see when reservations are available tonight, but not familiar with the town you're in? No problem. Whip out your always-on, always-connected PocketPC, click on a restaurant finder application, give it your parameters, and away it goes. You can get set up with reservations in under 2 minutes.

Need to grab a quick map of your surrounding area and find a street? No problem. Just surf out to mapopolis.com or some other place and automatically have a map delivered to you, based upon the tower you're connected to (of course, there would be a service charge).

This will definitely be something I'll want to look into getting when it comes out-- especially if it will work over CDMA...

I think this announcement only relates to 2.5G devices, not other forms of wireless networking. Thanks for the reminder that Dell still could release a device with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth this year.
