Arrow iPAQ h2200 Series and Pocket PC 2003 Coming May 30?

A document posted on the FCC’s website gives a strong indication of when HP’s next model and Microsoft’s next OS will be released.

I'm betting the price will be around $399. Puts it right in line with Palm's offerings, and undercuts Toshiba.

Default Open Secret?

This must be the best known model ever not yet released.

When did Steve first write about it? Last October? Now we know practically every detail but the box and it won't be out for another month. I remember when the Jornada 548 was shown by mistake via a picture in Computer Shopper and it was like HP was melting down over the secrecy breach.

I wonder when the PPC manufacturers will get to the point desktop mfgs once did and start offering models based huge software bundles?

In any case, the lack of built-in cameras, or higher res make these new models less interesting these days. To sell at 2-10 times current volume the PPCs would all have to be $100-200 and short of that, I think Dell is the only mfg that is going anywhere new (into new markets, not new features). These are all kind of a boring attack of a 1000 clones models. In fact, the 2200 looks so much like a E700 series, I don't know how consumers will be able to pick one or the other.

Looking at the thickness of Z71, I would say the h2200 has the same thickness. Z71 is slightly thicker than T|T, and h2200 is thinner than T|T.

that mean CF slot camera has pretty good chance competing against Z71 integrated camera. One can argue that the camera will stick out, add bulk, etc.... That's true, but it also offers CF peripherals options beside just a camera, not to mention one can pick higher resolution camera, or even SD camera.

all in all, as long as the h2200 size really as revolutionary as the spec say, it will compete against even the $299 Z71.

If this can take the expansion packs (which I doubt), I will be all over this. If no expansion packs, then I stick with my trusty 3955.
