Better sensor for Samsung devices
Samsung Develops 12MP CMOS Backside Illuminated Sensor
Yeah! Just when I'd pretty much lost all faith in the smartphone industry to produce a decent included camera.
Now if they'll just include decent lenses..........

Re: Better sensor for Samsung devices
Both these articles seem to be missing some crucial info: the SIZE (not MP's) of the sensor. Having slightly smaller pixels is only part of the deal. The overall light-catching SIZE of the sensor is more important. And 12 MP's is probably too much for most cellphones, much less smaller pocket digital cameras.

Varjak you took the words right out of my mouth. Increasing the resolution to this level tells me that they are really trying to produce a better camera. But like you both said, they must remember that good imaging comes from a combination of optics, resolution, sensor size, exposure control, AF-points.. the list goes on and on. Otherwise they should just keep throwing in the 5MP cameras.
