    Default Galaxy Player 4

Does anyone have any experience with the Galaxy Player 4? I realize that the Player 5 is a favorite, but to me the size, feel, and display of the Player 4 is almost ideal. Very "handy", in the hand, and much more pocketable.

I haven't bought one yet, been looking at the models at my Best Buy store, but as soon as a a PDA replacement becomes enough of a priority, the Player 4 seems to be the one.

Around here, only NetBrakr uses the Player 4. A couple of us (Hook and myself) use the Player5 . Both models are very similar: same processor, same screen resolution, similar storage memory (depending on Player version). About the only major differences are the screen size, the removable battery in the 4 (vs internal non-removable one in the 5) and stereo speakers on the 5.

As a PDA and media player, my Player 5 performs very well, so I'm sure the 4 will do as good a job as the 5. Let's hope NetBrakr stops by to offer his hands-on experience with the 4.

    Hey there, jglen490.

Yes, as Raspy said, I do have the Galaxy Player 4. Just like you I choose the Player 4 cause it's more pocketable. Although the Galaxy 4 has 4" screen, it has more pixels pack into 4", other then the 5", which also have the same screen resolution.

Also, I would like to point out the Player 4 does have stereo speakers, sounds really good. BUT Player 5 have a LED flash for the back camera; the Player 4" has no flash.

Feel free to ask questions about either Player 4" or 5", I am sure we will help you.

Hi, NetB! Sorry about the confusion regarding the speakers, I must have confused the Player 4 with a different device.

    Thank you, one and all!

Believe it or not, I still have my trusty old Zire 31. I've replaced the screen once, and the battery goes down pretty fast now, but it's been a great assistant.

One of the Players, probably the 4", will be it's worthy successor, soon. I'll be looking at the Player's apps, and better apps where they are available. And I really love the screens on both, that's what my tired old eyes say anyway!

    Thanks again.

Let us know when you get it. I think you'll like it. There will be some learning curve as you discover that things you took for granted on a Palm are not always as easy to do, but for most things it will be a big step up.

Well,Samsung's Galaxy Player 4.0 and 5.0 are the Android answer to Apple's iPod Touch, the long-reigning king of portable media players. Of the two Samsung options, the highly portable Galaxy Player 4.0 should especially appeal to people who wish to remain within the realm of Android for music, video, and apps, but don't want to pay for monthly service with an Android phone.

Thanks. Actually I did and it kind of puzzled me as to why they would offer two models that so close in size to each other and to the other Player models. I'll look at them next time I'm out.

Exactly. I resisted convergence in the Palm days, and don't want any part of it now.. My good old "not-so-smart" phone does exactly what I want it do (i.e., phone calls!) and my Zire (or its successor) does, and will do, exactly what I need it to do without the need for expensive and binding plans of any sort.

We're finally getting into exciting times in technology.
