Re: Need recommendations for a BT keyboard for GP5
Did you put the Player in Odin mode, or did it go into this mode by itself? If you did it, this means the buttons are working again, is this so? Have you tried rebooting your phone (hold power button about 10-15 seconds) to see if it will boot normally?
I don't know why you're seeing that icon in your Player... I've played very little with Odin, and I've yet to flash anything to my Player. I've used Odin on my Mini, but I haven't seen that icon there.
I just checked Sammobile, and it seems they've changed the site structure. I don't see 2.3.5 ROMs for the Player anymore. I think I downloaded one some time ago. I'll check my files and report back.raspabalsa

Re: Need recommendations for a BT keyboard for GP5
I was able to put it in Odin. I earlier tried flashing a ROM. Thought it would get me back to square one. At that time, phone went into a boot loop. After boot loop it got stuck in system recovery where none of the buttons work.
I left it connected to my computer and out of frustration just left it there for a while. When I came back several hours later it was no longer stuck in recovery but was showing a different icon on the screen.
Seeing that I thought maybe just maybe I can get it back into Odin which I did. Flashed again but this time, the pic I posted is what I was left with.
I cant seem to find a 2.3.5 stock ROM anywhere.
Everything I've come across is 2.3.6 built of a Chinese rom.

FINALLY!!! Back at square one. I found all sorts of *fixes* that gave me nothing but grief. I came across a forum post (read so many dont remember which forum it was) in which someone stated from the pic that I soft bricked but was still in download mode.
With that I just reconnected back to my computer, used Odin, selected pit, bootloader and pda and was off to the races.
I'm back where I started from--player still doesn't connect to my BT KB. I feel like I went thru all this for nothing. At this point, dont know what else to do different that I've not already done.

Re: Need recommendations for a BT keyboard for GP5
Ugh. Tail Chasing 101. I have so been there with other projects.

Tail chasing is putting it mildly. I'm at the point now that I regret having made any changes to the device as soon as I took it out the box. I would've known right away if my lack of bt kb connectivity was present.
I had my eye on the player for a min so had already had everything I needed to root as soon as I got it home and plugged into computer.
For a brief sec it tried to connect. I got the message on the player that a device was trying to connect. I gave it "always" permission and that's about as far as the connection lasted. Ready to bang my head into a brick wall. :banghead:

Don't know personally if this is right, but this claims to be the stock ROM.

Yeah, I'm rooted, but I won't go near any ROMs. I haven't seen anything that looks either mature or stable enough for me to dabble with. Official release CyanogenMod is about as brave as I get. ;-DHook's Stories

Thanks Hook. This was the first one I tried yesterday that sent me boot looping.

Sorry to hear about your problems, but it's good to know your device is again up and running. I searched my files, but the only SGP5 ROM I have is 2.3.6, and I don't remember what language it is, so no good for you.

Well in my quest to get back to 2.3.5 I managed to turn my player into a paper weight. 2.3.6 still didn't allow me to connect any BT KB so I figured at least I'm back up and running so why not. One of those 2.3.5 versions I came across was what did me in.
Contacted Samsung support and have to send it in.
