    Dear immier,

Thank you for writing this great software. You are really fast for writing the software so quickly. Any plans to go beyond 800mhz yet?

Thank you and keep up the good work.

    Regards.

Cheers for you again Bro immier. You and the rest of the overclocker writers are the ones who makes the x-scale processors pda worth buying.....

    Cheers........

    Cool

I am a bit curious and have a few questions about over-clocking: -

Does over-clocking affect the longevity of the CPU, and hence ultimately that of the PDA?

Is the speed increase noticeable for the average user (basic PIM function, image viewing, Excel & Word entries etc.)

Has anyone experienced and excessive heating of the DPA after over-clocking their CPUs?

I am not using xcupscaler yet as I am having a h1910. Instead I use speedstepper right now.

Overclocking does results in some side effects:

    1) Do not overclock too much. I overclock my h1910 to 333mhz before and the whole thing froze and I need to do a hard reset. Hence do not overclock beyond the safe limit that the software writers say it can

    2) I think that overclocking does shorten the life of the pda chip however I think that the pda chip can last around 10 years while the useful life a pda is only around 2 years. Hence it is definitely worth your while to overclock.

    3) Overclocking might void your warrenty hence please check before you overclock.

I overclock pdas to extend its useful life. If I did not overclock, I could not run SNES emulation. However it run SNES emulation very slowly. But I did see a significant difference.

Do not overclock your new device immediately. Wait until people post and tell you the safe limits. The old pxa 250, 255, 263 chips top out at 530 mhz....... That's the limit. While some people say that they can go beyond 530 mhz, my advice is not to do that. Unless you want your device to die or hard reset.

While the current pxa 270 tops out currently at 741 mhz..

    4) pda does become abit hotter when you overclock it but if you do it within the safe limit, it should be okay.

    5) You do not need to overclock for anything other than to emulate GBA or SNES or PS one or NEOGEO games....... this is what I think.

Once I overclocked too much and did hard reset and let my air conditioner cool the pda for the whole night. I do not think that I would do 333mhz again on my h1910. Only 300mhz for me.

    Hope that this helps.

I will get the xcupscaler when I lay my hands on the hx4700...

As always, hurry HP and do not take your own sweet time.

    Cool

    hukuju,

Thanks for the over-clocked reply, it was very informative.

Generally speaking, I am not in favor of over-clocking, but I am getting to the point where I am thinking about it as any increase in speed is desirable!

Again, thanks for the informative reply.

    Dear Wail,

    You are most welcome.

However please please check the safe limits before you overclock it.

From my own point of view, I would not be waiting for the hx4700 if I did not overclock my h1910 and gave it a new lease of life. I would have gotten either a X30 or a H4150 or H4355 by now.

Hence if you want to extend the useful life of your pda go for it.

The xcpuscaler is not bad. Most the guys use it.

    Overclock safely and have fun.
