    Default What should I get? Palm Z22, T|X, E2 or E :S

    Hey everyone!

I need to tap into your expert knowledge here!! I'm in the hunt for a PDA for my girlfriend, but am very unsure which one I should get. I myself have a Palm Tungsten T|X and am very happy with it, but the features on it may confuse her a bit. What I really wanted to get was either the E or E2, but I have read a lot of bad things about the reliability of the E2s.. So then I looked at the Z22, and it looks like the perfect handheld, except for the fact that it doesn't have a SD slot and the screen resolution is pretty low ... My girlfriend will prolly more often than not, be using the PDA for PIM tasks, and listen to music, and MAY want to look at photos and maybe movies if possible.. But the first two are most imporant ... Are the E2s really that bad quality??? What about now??

I agree with Nine, especially if she might want to watch movies. She can start out using the TX for simple PIMS and grow into the other functions at her own pace. Having you there for IT support will be ideal.

The nice thing about Palm is that, even when the device is more capable, the basic functions are still, well, basic.

    Welcome to BrightHand Dr3wster

I agree fully with Nine and Hook, having 2 TXs is a real bonus.

I am sure your friend will be just as happy with a TX as you are.
In some ways the TX may look confusing at first but I am sure you have found the TX to be very user friendly when you learn it's ways

Absolutely. I recommend you get her the TX, help her set it up and explain it's features when necessary.

I ask this too, it's my experience that people have an incredible ability to learn and understand when they do something they love or do it with someone they love

PS: Just to be safe, don't ever mention this Thread

I've had a variety of PDAs over the years, including an E2 & my current TX. I agree with the others...I don't quite understand what features the TX has over the other models that would be confusing to someone. IOW, if the TX is confusing to her, I'd suspect all would be confusing to her. If she can handle an E2, she can handle a TX.

Major drawbacks to the E2 are maximum SD card of one (1) GB and broken Find functionality. RealPlayer leaves a lot to be desired. It also appears that the E2 build quality varies.

Agree with the others, PIMs across the devices are pretty much the same.

Unless it is physically too large, get a TX.

Alternatively think about a Centro, then your girlfriend won't have to learn Graffiti.

    ROFL!

(I had to wiki 'Tippex', since I'd only heard the Americanized version of this joke (IE 'White Out'))

(BTW, the inventor of "White Out" was the mother of Mike Nesmith of The Monkee's fame...)

Actually, "Liquid Paper." "W[h]ite-Out" is a trademark for a particular brand. (And, interestingly, enough, is different--as the original Liquid Paper invented by Ms. Nesmith had a tendencey to smear on photostatic copies, thus leaving the way open for someone to improve on the idea.)

Actually, "White Out" has become the generic term for all such products in popular use, like Jello and Xerox.

Much to the dismay of the Xerox Corporation and some of us pedantic types.

What kind of Jello do you get that it comes in white out flavor?
