iPAQ Repair & Parts (Nathan Dickman)
    http://ipaqrepair.co.uk/
    • Don't let the name fool you, this is a repair and parts resource for far more than HP/Compaq iPAQs: it's also a good resource for Acer, Navman, Mio, iPhones, PSPs, and many other brands.
    • This company sells new OEM parts, used parts (salvaged from other devices), and in some instances even fabricates better parts (these are typically superior design or quality, to correct "flawed" OEM parts with high-failure rates).
    • They also purchase used devices, perform a number of repairs at lower cost than elsewhere, and the website offers many (free) Tips and Repair Guides for various models.
    • Located in the UK, which increases shipping costs/delays from North America.

    Cypress Industries
    http://www.cypressindustries.com/products/pda.html#HP
    • An electronics manufacturing/design company carrying many products, including an impressive array of multi-pin connectors, cables, mounts, and moldings for a large variety of mobile devices, cradles, and docking stations.
    • They also sell many other things that aren't particularly PDA-related.
    • They do not carry OEM parts, but manufacture identical ("clone") replacements.
    • This is an excellent place to locate "hard-to-find" sync-, PCB-, and LCD-connectors; especially for devices that are very old, very new, or made by companies (like Toshiba, ASUS, Acer, Fujitsu-Seimens, Samsung, Sony, Apple) who have less "presence" in the PDA market or who simply refuse to sell individual parts.

Services HandHeld Shopper iPAQ Parts Center
    http://www.hhshopper.com/web/common/default.aspx
(also known as the Foxconn iPAQ Parts Store)
    • This is essentially HP's stockpile of spare parts, and is the "in-house" source HP draws from when refurbishing or repairing iPAQs.
    • It also operates as an online store for HP-branded OEM parts (original and/or approved substitutes) used in all iPAQs.
    • This should be the "first stop" for anybody shopping for iPAQ parts; although prices seem to increase when stock starts running low, so it is sometimes possible to find a given part at a lower cost elsewhere if you're willing to look around.

    Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision)
    http://www.foxconn.com/
    • This is the primary joint-ODM contracted by HTC to produce and assemble most of the components used in all iPAQs (as well as Apple iPods/iPhones, Dell Axims, some ASUS and Toshiba PDAs, and Garmin GPS devices).
    • Parts and components can often be purchased directly from either of these companies even when unavailable at HHShopper, though they must usually be shipped from Taiwan: additional cost, delay, and minimum orders could apply.

WyreNut, and his External Mics for Palms
Although not strictly a parts resource per se, WyreNut's product is versatile, useful, well-made, and very popular (with many Palm users here at BH, at least).

The information here is all about Palm.com repairs:

    Generic info

    Repair4PDA
    http://repair4pda.org/handheld_howto_faq.html
    • Nothing for sale here.
    • free information guides describing how to diagnose, disassemble, reassemble, repair, mod, upgrade, and address a variety of PDAs and PDA problems.
    • Site deals primarily with older devices, there's actually some chance of finding something useful here when your older device needs something fixed.

    pinouts.ru
    http://pinouts.ru/
    • may have information helpful in working with damaged sync-connectors.
    • No guarantee that the information at these sites is 100% accurate, but it's still a good starting reference.

A big thanks to Ed Hardy, Shawn Lux, Dick Tracy, RickAgresta and Konrad Pierce for their contributions to this resource.
