Welcome to Brighthand Charles E. Fisher.

If you have the GPS package it comes with TomTom, which, from what I understand, is the best navigation/directions for USA. Believe there are other preferences for Europe.

There may be others which meet your needs but I am not entirely certain what your priorities/budget are.

I have Tom Tom. It works but it is NOT a great or even good solution. Buggy, can't navigate across maps which means you can't plan a trip from Jacksonville, Florida to Detroit, Michigan without knowing in advance your main route and figureing places where you can change maps. Yeah, it's a few clicks with the stylus and then let it re-route but that is not satisfactory.

Also, if you go a different way than it directs, get off route for a mile or two and it's locked up and needs soft reset.

I have never used the Garmin GPS10 system, but I have used a lot of Garmin products and the specs on this look good.

If I was going for a PDA based GPS again, that's what I'd try. My wife liked the concept of the Tom Tom/E2 but not the execution or stabiliy so she bought a Garmin C330. $600 but it is really sweet

There is also Mapopolis. You don't need a GPS for this one, but of course, you can't auto route etc. I use mapopolis as a quick map reference for trips and new places. You can download all the maps for North America and some European countries, but only have as much on your PDA as your memory allows. This just means you sync what you need. So mapopolis without the GPS attachment is good not for car navigating but for walking or reference, unless you have someone else in the car to play with it, or you are at a red light.
