What Made Have a PDA?
So, well all have PDA's here. But why did you get yours?
When I first got my Sony CLIE, it was a toy. Showed it off to all my friends (I was in 8th grade, lol, that was a big thing to have back then!
). Of course my PDA usage has changed; it is now my all round computer when I am not at home, my secretary for me
, among other things.

Well, I got my first Palm PC when I was in eighth grade (just because of the cool-factor of having a little handheld computer
). Then I saw all the stuff the Pocket PCs could do, and I had to have one...so the next year I got my E-125, and used it mainly for games, listening to music, a little (tiny) bit of organization, reading a few eBooks - but mainly for games.

I've been using PDAs from 5th grade, and now I'm going into 10th, and I have yet to keep one for more than one school year.
5th Grade: Royal 30x2, Sharp Wizard YO
6th Grade: Sharp Zaurus 3300, Sharp Wizard OZ-570
7th Grade: Royal Vista, Sharp Wizard
8th Grade: Palm m100
9th Grade: Jornada 520
And I am thinking about getting a Clie for 10th.
So why did get a PDA? Its gotta be the geek/cool factor. Its nice to see people who will bow down to you just to play a 15 second game of Bejewled.
Guru.

I find it amazing that so many high schoolers have top of the line PDAs these days. (BTW: gonna be a junior w/ a 3765
) This obviously shows that PDAs are not just for businessmen/women these days. I know of only probably 3 other people in my school with PDAs and only one has a pocket pc, another ipaqer
.

My first PDA was a Palm Pilot Personal 5 years ago. I bought it because for the first time I'd just got a good job with a decent salary, but also because of the geek factor. I'm a big StarTrek fan, they (Palms) reminded me of those pads in ST:TNG/DS9/VOY, and when I saw them for the first time, I knew I just had to have one.

I'm also a big fan of electronic media. I hate paper. The idea of a paper agenda (diary?) sickens me, and I never used those, always resisted, but I was quick to adopt a PDA to organize my life.
I use digital devices as much as I can. I have digital cable TV, a digital camera, I rarely write on anything else than a PC or a PDA, I now buy 3 times as many ebooks as paperbacks - and I wish I could buy only ebooks.
I can't wait til we can record TV on DVDs at the same price as tape - tape is an outdated technology that should be terminated.
I do my banking on the Internet. I get my bills by electronic media. I pay them by Internet. I wish I didn't have to write paper checks to my landlord.
I find ironic that all of the paperwork at the office can be filled on my PC, but it has to be PRINTED on paper so it can be SIGNED by my boss, while the technology to do everything by electronic media does exist.
A PDA just fits my philosophy about life: GET DIGITAL!

I've seen the leaked images of the Oslo, and I haven't yet determined weather I like it or not. There's something about it that just doesn't look right. But I think its great there is a d-pad on it.Originally posted by HiPAQ!

Not wrong. I loved my Apple IIe bought during junior years, especially since my 4 colour CGA (remember that acronym?) screen was the envy of the neighborhood.Originally posted by AJones

I use my PDA primarily for organising my life. If it ain't in there, it ain't happening. Just so happens at work that they have the same view as well.
No shopping or to-do lists, no gameboys, no mp3 players, no reference books to carry around, no working on the thesis on paper (okay that's a bit extreme given the length, but still beats using a pencil).
Coupled with a bluetooth phone and connecting out via GPRS, it suits me to a tee. Mobility is the name of the game.
