Default Proud new owner of a TX!!! 1st Question!!

I finally broke down and bought a new TX to take over from my low battery, rotten digitizer but thououghly loved TE!!

I use my PDA primarily at work and sync with my office desktop.(Exchange Server Network, Outlook 2003(

My problem is that our Network Administrator is away for a week, so I can't install the new software. I can't wait a week!

Can I set it up at home (Windows XP Home, Firefox, Thunderbird) choose Outlook instead of Palm Desktop, and start playing with the Wifi, load lots of songs on my card and generally fiddle? Then when Mr. Admin comes back, install the software again on my work computer?

For syncing Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, I can sync to my TE and then beam from it to my TX (??) for a little while.

Is it ok to install on 2 or more computers, with different browsers etc..

    Thanks!

Yes. I sync at work with XP Pro and at home (occasionally) with XP Home. I use the same hotsync ID on both computers and have never had any problems (I used to hotsinc to Windoze 98 at work and XP at home, then Windoze 2000 at work and XP at home).

It sounds like you may already be aware that you DO NOT want to just sync anything from your TE to the T|X. You WILL have major problems. Follow Palms upgrade instructions exactly and it will go smooth and your T|X will function without a glitch.

    Congratulations on the TX slee999.

Palm's upgrade instructions can be found by typing upgrade in the search box on the TX support page. Use the first result.

Don't forget to check the software compatibility lists at palmfacts.com and palmfocus.com. If you use TextPlus, download and install RescoLocker so that you don't have any backup problems or spontaneous resets.

I printed off the Upgrade Instructions from Palm Support. Looks pretty simple. Just hope I rename the right User Folder on my PC when our Admin. guy finally returns.
I'm going to install it on my home PC and use a different name for Handheld.
As for software, the only things I had were for battery help (autodimmer, Shutdown etc.) Only things I really want to keep are Handyshopper and Sol Free.
I'll report back tomorrow. Can hardly wait to see if I can establish the WiFi thing at home. I have a wireless Lincsys set up so my daughter can use her laptop when she comes home. I wrote down the "Key" so hopefully the TX will talk to the Internet for me!!
