    Default stuck in softreset loop!!!

So I downloaded the trial of PalmaryClock Wireless Edition and installed it on my TX. Playing around with the preferences and settings, I switched it to mp3 alarm sounds, and picked on from the sd card, selected preview - it seemed to work and then reset the TX, and the reset wouldn't get past the grey/silver palm screen before resetting.

I eventually had to hardrest, and restored from SD card (Thank GOD for backupbuddy!!) Everything appears to work fine now.

    As for software, I've installed:

    backupbuddyVFS pro
    Cardreader
    FileZ
    newtxhome
    PalmPDF
    TCPMP
    Uninstall Manager
    Security patch (from palm.com)
    Tomtom5
a few free skins for Pocket Tunes

    and evaluating:
    Datebk6
    sudoku_free
    sudokumaster
    sudoku_astroware
    Pocket Quicken
    Splash ID
    Splash Money
    keyboard 2.2

    PDA history:
Mine: Franklin Planner -> Palm IIIx -> Palm T3 -> Palm TX + 16GB sdhc + Palm's GPS Navigator (TTv6) -> iPhone (but still haven't wiped the TX yet...)
    Hers: disposables -> Handera 330 -> Palm E2 /w 1GB sd card -> Dash

    Calculator history:
HP 28S -> 48SX -> 33S (the design sucks) -> 35S (because it's allowed in the PE exam and back to HP tradition)

That's too bad, but I'm glad to hear that the restore after the hard reset worked out just fine.

Before doing a hard reset you could always try a warm reset. Typically that works for me when I play around with new software and sometimes run into a soft reset loop. Once the device is running again I delete the offending program and its related databases (don't forget the saved and unsaved preferences which can be deleted for instance with Resco Explorer). After that I initiate a normal soft reset my TX is back to normal!

    Cheers.

    What's a warm reset?

A warm reset is a soft reset where you press and hold the Up part of the D-Pad. That saved me for my soft-reset loops that I was experiencing when I first bought a T|X and assumed all the apps that worked with my T|C would work with the T|X.

I've been having a lot of problems with Palmary Clock and Palmary Clock Wireless. I purchased the Wireless edition immediately upon notification of the v1.0 release. I updated to v1.01 without it causing any problems (more than what I was already encountering), but updating to the recently released v1.02 caused soft resets every time I tried to run the app. I did not get into a soft reset loop, though. I ended up having to delete the previous version (and all settings/configs), and then install v1.02. Worked fine after that.

The ongoing problems I'm having with Palmary Clock (and PC Wireless) is that it doesn't really play very nice with AeroPlayer or Pocket Tunes. These problems occur on both my T|C and T|X, using Palmary Clock or Palmary Clock Wireless (I own both), and using AeroPlayer or Pocket Tunes. When using Pocket Tunes to play MP3 alarms via Palmary Clock, after an alarm has sounded if I try to go into Pocket Tunes (like to just play music), I get an immediate soft reset. Then when I try to go into Pocket Tunes again, all of my music is no longer found, so I have to re-find it. This occurs the same whether I was using the sub-basic Pocket Tunes that came on the T|X or the Pocket Tunes Deluxe version which I now own. When I use AeroPlayer for playing MP3 alarms via Palmary Clock, I don't get soft resets but my playlists are always gone when going into AeroPlayer by itself. Also, AeroPlayer will eventually simply stop playing the alarms until I do a soft reset. This alarm failure has occurred between 1-7 days of no soft resets, so it's not like I can just remember to reset my T|X every 4 days to avoid the alarm failures.

Haven't gotten anything useful out of Palmary support yet. I was told to update to the latest version of each music player (did that), and in regard to AeroPlayer failing to play the alarms, I was just told that happens eventually if I don't regular soft reset the device. It's a shame, too, because I really like this app (especially the features of the Wireless edition), but an alarm clock that you can't rely is...well...an unreliable alarm clock.

I tried a warm reset - forgot what to push for the hard reset, and it didn't do anything.

I guess it's back to the drawing board looking for a clock app.

I know, I'm getting to that point as well. It's very disappointing because I've invested significant $ in Palmary, and it was even the primary reason why I bought Pocket Tunes and AeroPlayer (although I benefit from both individually now).

MegaClock looks nice, but I don't believe it offers MP3 alarms (requirement for me).

mobileClock (I think it used to be called Bob's Clock or something), looks like a potential replacement. It even supports MP3 alarms and such. It doesn't have the fancy new wireless features of PalmaryClock Wireless though -- I've been enjoying the time sync, weather, and currency updates with PCW, but I really need a reliable alarm clock (that's not limited to horrible MIDI alarms).

Oi, I just received a very short message from PalmarySoft support telling me

"Please fully remove program from your device, download latest version from our site, and install again. Sorry for problems."

Still no word on the problems with both the music players that are required for one of the main features of this app to work.

    Grrr...

The WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) of using my Palm T|X as the family alarm clock is spiraling....!

I wonder which version I installed, 1.0.2 or 1.0.1. I'll have to check when I get home.

If it was v1.02, then I would not be surprised that you were in a soft reset loop. I didn't not have this problem at all with v1.00 or v1.01, and not even when I upgraded to v1.01 over v1.00.
