Question palm TX help ? hey, im old so dont shoot me

Hey Brighthand !, newbie !!, ok ill try to keep this kinda short, here we go...

Started off with an android 4.0 unnamed device which broke after 2 weeks, moved onto a branded device and same thing only this one lasted 3 weeks, opted for a blackberry playbook which was awesome but not robust enough to come hiking and climbing with me so ive opted for thr Palm TX with a superb Rhinocase !, its an awesome device, i can connect to the net anywhere, go mapping if i get lost and even listen to some tunage when im on the trek home but... no matter what i try i cannot seem to put videos on it, ive tried using the 'install' feature and dragging and dropping direct onto the sd card but i cant seem to see them, they mostly say its in the wrong format or the file is too big, i opted for a 3mb youtube vid (downloaded) and tried all the formats i know and still nothing, im using the built in pic video viewer cos i cant find a vid player for free (cheapskate) so im kind of stuck ?, any ideas would be appreciated, thanks guys n gals :>)

    Welcome to Brighthand, Paul.

You need TCPMP and then just drop videos on your SD card. You can find the download files for TCPMP at my TX Help page here:

    http://hookmt.com:8080/Palm/

You can also find a lot of useful old discussions of the program in the Palm multimedia forum here.

    Palm Multimedia Forum

Or just search for TCPMP in the search bar.

Not sure what Android phone you had, but next time get one of the ruggedized models or get an otterskin case. ;-)

the first 3 file (1 .txt and 2 .htm) are info files, they do not go to the TX

the tcpmp.prc is the app itself, and is a must have

the others are a combination of for audio and for video; of these, you need to install the mp3 plugin, the 2 mpeg ( 1 and 4) plugins, the ffmpeg plugin. the matroska, vorbishq, flac plugins are for less common audio formats, and probably not needed for video. I'd include the aac plugin, the ac3 plugin and the avc plugin.

thing is, if you put them all in, they really don't take up much memory -- that'd be easiest, imo.

    good luck!

Agreed. There is no harm in installing all of the plugins.

    Thanks, RA.
