Re: T|X newbie with Q's: Please help!!
Welcome to Brighthand, jewelsg627.

I'll chime in with another "If you're not using it, don't enable it" opinion. But I also subscribe to that theory for my laptop. Battery drain is my personal nemesis, and I play to win.

And I'll chime in to say thanks to Gregte and that carefully-explained bit of testing and evidence. Data always appreciated.

Re: T|X newbie with Q's: Please help!!
One addendum I'd like to see in Gregte's measurements: Put IR receive "on" and then aim a remote control (or other IR emitter) at the PDA. See if the current draw goes up.
I've read that the Palm, on seeing an IR signal--even if it's NOT a Beam Receive will cause the Palm to try to process the signal--at least until it decides it's nothing it wants to do anything with. But in the meantime, it's got to wake up enough circuitry to decide this. I believe someone in a long-ago thread noticed that their battery charge seemed to be lower than they expected and traced it back to being in rooms with lots of IR signals.
But thank you for the hard data you presented, Gregte.
Why, I've got muscles in my head I haven't even used yet!

Re: T|X newbie with Q's: Please help!!
I leave IR Recieve turned off because I never use it, don't have any other computers with IR. But it just occured to me that if it was turned on that perhaps it would get excited every time I change channels or volume on my TV which is very frequently! My TV's IR remote control device puts out a very strong beam that easily hits the TV no matter how I point it just by reflecting off of ceiling and walls.
