Yes, pointless Bluetooth can drain the battery. Having it off can make quite a difference.

Likewise with the WiFi and even (to some extent) the IR receiver.
Why, I've got muscles in my head I haven't even used yet!

I maintain my position. Having these things turned on will require battery power. It's simple physics.

Re: T|X newbie with Q's: Please help!!
I have measured the power being consumed with WiFi on and off, with bluetooth on and off and with IR receive on and off.
I made these measurements with an ammeter in series with the TX's battery. I also made the measurements with the forementioned devices in the standby mode, i.e. not actively connected but rather just ON or OFF.
WiFi uses a very significant amount of power. It adds an additional 135 mA of current draw just being turned ON. That is almost as much power as the TX alone uses just being ON and at a low screen brightness. In other words, the TX (low brightness) uses a total of 285 mA with WiFi on but only 150 mA with WiFi off.
I measured the current draw of the TX with both IR recieve on and off and the difference is negligible, i.e. not worth considering. I found the same thing to be true of bluetooth. Mind you, I am not talking about bluetooth being on and connected to something, but rather it just being on and not connected. Hence, I leave bluetooth on all the time just for the convenience.
I know this differs from staements made by others but this is what I measured.
Oh, another interesting note: with WiFi On but not connected it uses an additional 135 mA as mentioned, But if it is connected and I am surfing with Blazer it only uses 25 mA if (and this is a big 'if') if I have the "Conserve Power" box checked. If it is not checked the power consumption of WiFi is 135 mA whether surfing with Blazer or not.
