Make it Stop! CD Installation Alert
I performed a hard reset about a month ago and started over from scratch installing my applications. (A separate story, but one that led to some good housekeeping.) Since then I have twice seen an alert appear telling me to install the software on the CD to complete my installation. I've dismissed this each time. The first time I assumed I would not see it again, but it just popped up again. I'm not sure what the interval between appearances is. When I press and hold the center button in the 5-way while the unit is on, it brings up a screen that shows 0 alerts, so I don't see anything to delete there.
I had no need for installing things from the CD this time, since everything was already on the computer that I need to hotsync and use the Palm Desktop. And I don't know what I am missing from the Palm itself. Nothing I want at any rate.
Obviously this alert must appear on some schedule. Does anyone here know how to get rid of it for good? Do I really need to do something with the CD?

Which application is telling you to install?

Re: Make it Stop! CD Installation Alert
I should have written down exactly what it says, but I didn't. When I see it again in another couple of weeks, I will if I am where I can do so. It's a generic alert that says to install the CD in order to complete my installation. It does not refer to any particular application.

Re: Make it Stop! CD Installation Alert
Check your tasks / todo list. I think it's buried in there.
Current Device: Samsung Galaxy Note II - Rooted Stock ROM
Retired Device: HTC EVO Shift 4G - (Rooted) JellyBelly ROM 4.1.2
Tablet: Kindle Fire
The school year is back in session - I'm likely to be absent from here quite a bit...

Re: Make it Stop! CD Installation Alert
Maybe so. But all I found there was a reminder to register my unit. Maybe that had a trigger for what I was seeing too? It's gone now, so time will tell, I guess.
Thanks for the pointer. I am not much of a Tasks user, obviously.

Re: Make it Stop! CD Installation Alert
Is this the one from Palm that wants you to register? I don't swear to the connection but when it came up in the task list instead of choosing the usual "done" or "clear" I chose "go to." Then when it did I think I deleted it--if not the act of going to it did it for me (it was some months ago, sorry).
Why, I've got muscles in my head I haven't even used yet!

Re: Make it Stop! CD Installation Alert
The Task in the list after a hard reset tells you to register. The alert I saw only referred to completing the installation from the CD. I don't have any evidence (yet) that these two things are related. The task is gone. It will take a couple of weeks to know whether the alert went with it.

Re: Make it Stop! CD Installation Alert
I've had the exact same problem on my TX for the past couple of months. I did not have a hard reset that started the problem. I've always assumed that my problem started after I put my CD in my desktop to see if there was a Pocket Tunes manual on it. The CD autorun started up. I can't remember if that actually starts the Palm Desktop installation routine, but if it did I aborted it. Now I get the installation reminder every couple of weeks too.
