Default How do you open Word files for Doc2Go?

I was buying Resco Explorer for the capability to directly open related files with associated programs. It works well for anything but Word file with doc to go. If I click on the *.doc file under RE, the file can be open alright, but then doc 2 go do not allow me to save any edit back to original file. It will insist to save as another file.

So I have to open file via doc 2 go. The only way I know is to run "search for files" so that my native Word file can be found in the list. This is really kind of dumb and slow. First, all my directory-sorted word files now are listed in a flat list. Not to mention it takes a long time to search the whole 2GB SD card. This really make me wonder if I should get a 4G card.

Is there any educate doc 2 go only search some directory? Or any other easy way to find my file under doc 2 go (the one v. 7.000? goes with TX)?

    How about new vesion 8?

    Thanks for help.

    Duke,
In part because of some of the file management issuses you mention, I switched to OfficeSuite. It lets you browse your directories on your card for files, and will let you filter those directories by file type if you want. (Just show *.doc files, for example.)

They have a free trial. When I switched (a while ago) it was the same price to upgrade DocsToGo or register OfficeSuite.

    Something to consider.

Thank you both for reply. It is sad to hear that there is no solution to Doc2Go. Not because I like it so much but it will cost about antoher $40 to get the Officesuite 7. It does has some nice features such as spell checker and showing graphs in the word file (is it fully functional?).

Still, thanks a lot for the recommendation and I will seriously think about it.

I wish I could provide some help. I don't use Resco Explorer. I just launch DTG anytime I want to open a file. It does take a minute sometimes for it to finish "searching", but I do not have to wait for that to finish to open the file I want. You can also dissable the search feature on DTG startup.

Most times I use a combination of catagories and filters to quickly find what I need. In the bottom toolbar there is a filter to only display a specific file type.

I still like DTG (currently running 8.003), but Office suite has many more features.
