Default Dial Numbers via Bluetooth with Razr v3 AND BT Earphone

I just paired my wife's new TX and her Razr v3 Quad Band GSM phone. Her Bluetooth Motorola earphone/headphone was already paired up to the Razr previously. So now she can dial numbers from the TX to her phone. But she can't dial numbers from the TX to her phone IF SHE HAS HER BT EARPHONE open and in her ear.

Perhaps that means that the Razr will not pair up with both the TX and her BT earphone at the same time. Of course, she can open and use her BT earphone once the call has connected since the TX is finished with its job at that point. But that is an awkward and should be an unecessary step.

Is there any way to use the TX to dial the call WHILE her BT earphone is open and in her ear? Thanks.
    Cheers, RoyofSF

(If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will tell me, but)
I am under the impression that only one BT device will be operable at a time on that phone.
Why, I've got muscles in my head I haven't even used yet!

most current bluetooth phones can only work with ne device at a time. it's the same way with my v635. a proper bluetooth 1.2 or higher system (software and/or hardware) permits the use of multiple devices at a time.

Even with the ability to connect more than one device the SE w600 and Samsung D807 for instance still can't do it.

I have been looking for an answer for this for weeks; it does not look like it is currently possible. I have even called Samsung and Motorola to ask about this. They both tell me that none of their phones will do this.

They tell me the technology just is not there...seems odd, doesn't it?

I have a Tmobile Samsung SGH-T509 and Palm TX. I tried turning on my Bluetooth earpiece and then dialing from my TX contacts list. My TX said "Unable to connect to phone. Please check your settings and make sure the phone is ready." Even after I turned of the earpiece it still gave the same error. It has worked before.

I changed the settings in the connections to use a different GSM profile for my phone (since Samsung phones aren't supported directly by the Palm TX). Now it works again. And, it works to turn on my Bluetooth headset and then dial from the TX. We'll see if it works in a few days. But, it does appear that the Samsung SGH-T509 will make multiple Bluetooth connections at the same time.

Now we take a journey in Rant Land...

To me, Bluetooth is a complete mess. I just began my foray into the world of Bluetooth by purchasing the Samsung SGH-T509 and Palm TX. Now I am about to lose all my hair and I am sure my blood pressure is through the roof.

Basically the only thing that has worked smoothly is the Bluetooth headset with the phone. Since that is how 99% of all Bluetooth is used, I guess that is to be expected. But, even with that my Motorola H850(?) is screwing up now because the answer/call button has started getting too easy to press and it dials or hangs up on people accidentally while I am adjusting it on my ear. Need to return it...

Since Samsung phones aren't directly supported on the Palm TX, I use the "BT to GSM Phone" setup. That mostly works for dialing and SMS, but is far from perfect. DUN over GPRS using BT on my phone doesn't work very well for me. I was hoping that would work nicely, but instead it doesn't even connect about 50% of the time and took me a week to figure out how to do it.

Setting up BT USB transceivers has not been so smooth either since the BT drivers built into Windows XP don't work very well. Another BT mess.

All in all, Bluetooth is about the mess that I thought it would be 4 years ago even after I gave it a lot of time to settle down and everyone to iron out the kinks in it.

Technically my Palm TX and Samsung T509 should give me all sorts of functionality that I didn't have on my Treo 600, but in practice things aren't working so smoothly, with all sorts of errors, delays and resets on the TX. And setting up most things has not been very easy.

I found a neat workaround here from MinimalPoster, (here it is).

In short turn off the headset, dial with TX, at disconnect, turn on the headset. Only problem is that when you go to answer a call, you have to fumble the headset out of its holster, and click it on all before it goes to voice mail. LOL
