Default Can' restore TX after hard reset!

Can't restore TX after hard reset!

I was having resets occur often so I renamed my backup folder, did a hard reset on my TX and when I hotsync choose the option: Select an existing user account, then OK. Hotsync shows Identifying User and that's as far as it goes. If left it running for 30 minutes but nothing else happens. I can create an empty backup folder of my username but then no PIM data gets restored. Can anyone help with this problem?

    Thanks in Advance!

A trick that might help (never tried this myself):

Hotsync using a different username, then change the name back to what it used to be via PalmDesktop. Hotsync again.
After that copy the PIM folder over the existing folder structure and hotsync using Desktop overwrites HandHeld.

    Hope this helps

I haven't attempted it yet, haven't had time. I work a 24 shift and am VERY dependant on my TX to get me through the day! Anyway, I have to make sure I have enough time to get it right before going back to work. But I'll tackle it soon.

OK...after about 5 hours of failures several of which erased my PIM info. I restored my Palm back to where I started with all the reset problems. I then renamed my current username to something else, through the Palm desktop, performed a hard reset then hotsynced using my original username creating that account. Then replaced the PIM folders from my renamed folder as suggested and HURRAY! it worked. No more crashes and all of my calendar, contacts, memos, and notes are right there!

I'm being very careful adding my third party apps back in.

    Thanks for your help!

Sambo that's great! Make sure you get a good backup program for your TX so you will always be prepared for whatever comes your way. A lot of people use NVbackup. It's free. I use a program called mobile backup but it cost me a few bucks.

Uninstall Manager from www.northglide.com is also good for handling installs and uninstalls.

    UPDATE!

I have purchased Uninstall Manager (Neat Freak Pack) and have re-installed all my third party apps that were previously installed. Everything is working great! I have had zero resets since the re-install.

Edit H: corrected reference to Neat Freak Pack and deleted afterwards the two subsequent posts since they became obsolete.
