    Default Just can't resist trying...

I found a deal for a Palm Pixi Plus for $53, no contract on Verizon. Of course I had to buy it...I will report in a few days how it goes. I figure with my Droid being super cranky and the free hotspot on the Pixi Plus I can give a "tablet+smartphone" setup a shot. And if I hate it, I can ebay it for $40-50 and call it a day.

    Wish me luck!

    LUCK, LUCK, LUCK

Girl, I know you are an Android advocate, so please make thorough comparisons among both OSs. Could be quite interesting.

Where/how did you fined that deal? Inquiring minds want to know.

My real question is, being CMDA, can it be set up on wifi only. I would consider getting it if I didn't have to subscribe to a service or use as a phone.

    I found one here:

    http://www.amazon.com/Palm-Pixi-Plus...N%3DB004IPAC10

Here it appears my answer is no.

I might have jumped on that too. I doubt it's for me, but I've always admired the WebOS interface.

    Good luck.

Uh, too many sour memories for me, and too small…but that's just me

my bad, netbuster -- my sour memories/etc. were about Palm. it is a small screen though; imo a 755p is the lowest practical limit, sizewise, no matter what the resolution is, but especially if one is 'forced' to use fingertips and not a stylus

Whoops, sorry, meant to include the link in my original post. Yep, it's the Amazon deal.

I think there is a hack that lets you hacktivate it w/o verizon. Precentral has a thread about it.

It actually arrived today but I probably won't get to checking it out until Monday. I am shocked at how fast Amazon Prime shipped it, I am starting to think they hid the distro center in my basement, it arrived so fast!

Ok, I am up and running on la pixi plus. So far I am mixed. It's super cute and small, and I've forgotten how it feels to use something this small versus the hulking Droid. (It helps that I found my old iPhone in a drawer last week and felt a bit nostalgic-obviously it's bigger than the Pixi but feels more compact than the Droid.)

Pixi is very light and plastic-y, but the rubberized back makes it feel very tough. Browsing is interesting with such a small screen, but that's what mobile hotspot and my Nookcolor are for (planning on testing that out later.)

For basic email and IM, though, it seems reasonably useful. I plan on using it for at least a week to give it a fair shakedown.
