    A worthwhile TX2 (IMHO)=
    Improved Blazer
    Include "drive" mode/cardexportII/card reader functionality
And, why don't we just start bundling ZLauncher and get it over with?

But, that wouldn't prompt me to go buy a new one...just like the TE2 held no allure for me after having the TE. Just not enough of a step up. Shoot, put 4g in the TX2, big deal, I'll probably have a 4 gig card within the next year for much less than a new device....

    You guys have good ideas.
Here is my idea of a perfect TX2:
At least 3gb memory with two sd slots
Rebate if you own the old TX
    Wifi
    and a few other things
    Phone: LG "Feature" Phone
Music Player: Sony Walkman 8Gb, Model NWZ-S544
    Camera: Casio 12 MP Digtial
    Tablet: Blackberry Playbook 16gb

I'm not dead, just not here that often.

Thumbs down Re: Warning against a TX|2 with 4GB of flash.

    TX with 4GB internal flash.

If this is the bulk of the upgrade. I sincerely hope you guys are wrong. And if you are correct, and some ....... at palm actually convinced the group to make it. Then Palm could kiss whatever remaining market share they have goodbye, and all the cash that goes with it.

You'd be better off actually explaining the thinking behind your theory instead of ranting, Davidbec - if you could?

I think the others have explained it already.

    4GB SD cards already exist, 8GB is almost her eif not already here. Why put 4GB internal as the major upgrade and ignore;

    drive mode
    microphone
    better browser
    useable camera
    better interface
LEDs to tell you when it's charging/charged
    usb host
    cradle
    better battery life
    screens that do not whine
more audio and video codec support

    need I go on?

If 4Gb internal flash is to be included then its more likely that Drive Mode will make an appearance again to make best use of it. Remember that not all items in your personal list are as important to everybody.

Well judging by the comments on the thread, and comparing it to comments made whe nthe TX first came out, it does not look like 4GB of memory was important to many others either.

But if we get drivemode with it (which was one of the things people wanted initially) then at least it'll make a couple others happy.

All this talk about formfactor, size, and wireless features limiting the ability to install two SD cards? I say, "poppykosh!" Okay, I'm not quite sure what "poppykosh" has to do with any of this, and I admit that I don't know what "poppykosh" is or what a "poppykosh" even looks like, but...ah...yes, back on my original statement...

Recently a friend visited the hacienda with her new HP/Compaq PocketPC given to her by her work (doctor). It was as thin as the T|X, slightly smaller height and width, 320x240 screen (okay, that's a negative strike for some people -- not me though), but had built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AND a CF slot AND a SD slot. It also had a charge light, voice recorder, standard sized headphone jack, a removeable rechargeable battery (with an extra battery included), a COMPLETE SYNC/CHARGING CRADLE with a slot for charging a spare battery while charging the battery in the PDA, an additional sync cable, an additional charger, a genuine HP leather flip case, and if I'm remembering correctly a front speaker and I believe a vibrating alarm (not positive on the last one, but I don't think a doctor would have a PDA without a vibrating alarm).

Anyway, my point is that a PDA with such a well stocked feature set and included accessories is very possible, specifically one that has all those features (and then some) plus the dual storage card slots, with one of them even being the larger (but more versatile and inexpensive) CF format. Before anyone starts in with price -- the above PDA was $389, new, with everything included. If Palm thinks that keeping their newest PDA under $300 is going to keep people interested when for just $100 more you get all that, then I think they need to fire their entire marketing and design departments.

Sorry to bash on Palm (and I wish to point out that I'm still a Palm user -- a T|C), but with the above feature set in a PocketPC that's available at EVERY electronics department/store (Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, Office Depot, OfficeMax, CompUSA, etc., etc.) instead of just a few for a price that's typically cheaper than the latest Palm, is it really any wonder that PocketPCs are so popular? For a feature set like that, I'll try the rumored instability of WindowsMobile, especially when FrankenGarnet and NVFS isn't exactly the Rock of Gibraltar for stability.

My point exactly, there are so many other things you can put into a palm. Things that we need. Things we'd willingly pay for that they could do.

A TX2 with 4 GB flash and drivemode as the only upgrades, would not even get my attention.
