palm IIIxe battery

i have been using alkaline batteries in my beloved IIIxe and find that i am using too many. i have now NMH rechargeable batteries. i am using a program called batteryinfo v1.3 (from freewarepalm.com) and it gives me 3 battery options to track: alkaline, nicad, lithium - no NMH cos they didn't exist when this software was written.

QUERY1: which of the 3 do i use to track battery life?
QUERY2: is there a similar freeware program that might include NMH?

There was a dot shortcut you need to run to 'change' the battery calibration circuit to make it aware you are using another type of battery ... let's see ... ah ! Found it !

TAKE CHARGE OF BATTERY TYPES

If you’re using different battery types (Alkaline/NiCad/Rechargeable Alkaline/NiMH), write the following in a text field (such as the Memo Pad) to toggle between more accurate battery gauges: shortcut stroke (like a cursive L), dot, 7.

Have you already done that to set it right ?

Secondly, I used BatteryTime (also freeware) to track the battery. It is irrespective of the type of battery you use once you have set the previous mentioned calibration correctly

i have switched to batmon 1.2.5 and it allows for direct type change using the script you offered.

is there a list of the various battery types? i have now a NiCad setting - i take it that 7=NiCad. is that similar enough to NMH?

It should be Alkaline/NiCad/Rechargeable Alkaline/NiMH

But if it does not show NiMH on your device (some devices don't show this), NiCad is the closest you can get for NiMH as far as I know.

i have just read that NiCad and NiMH are similar enough to use the NiCad setting for my monitor.
