There's also still the $400 Asus Eee PC model. It would have a better keyboard for typing than the Nokia, but a less portable form-factor.

Re: Can Has Foleo Now?
I've found my Foleo for now... my TX plus the Alphasmart Neo2. I can write anywhere and beam to either my TX or a computer. I can have notes and anything else I need on the TX while writing on the wonderful full size keyboard of the N2. (Don't have it yet due to very expensive car stuff, but beginning of November...)

(Yes, the Neos are actually intended for the K-12 education market, but are great writing tool, especially with a battery life of 700 hours on AA batteies)Hook's Stories

Re: Can Has Foleo Now?
We're in the process of ripping out my old home office complete with the dedicated dell laptop area and rolltop desk. Instead, all that will be moved downstairs to a much less accessible location. I'm holding out for an EEE to use upstairs with vnc or other ways of logging in and controlling the "real" boxes downstairs. I would have to take the hike down there to burn cd's but the everyday activities like reading email and editing quick documents could be done anywhere there is wifi. I definitely want a foleo-like device for this purpose. I'm looking forward to being able to pick up a Linux based EEE at my local Best Buy this holiday season
.

Re: Can Has Foleo Now?
For those of you who find the Eee PC more interesting, Asus has finally announced what the different versions of this device will be and what they will cost:

For those of you who are considering the Asus Eee PC and Nokia N810 as possible replacements for the Foleo, here's a quick comparison of the two:

Re: Can Has Foleo Now?
It's definitely a major differentiator between these two. I don't have exact figures on this, though, but a comparison of the overall size and weight does a good job of showing the differences.
Considering what forum we're in, I'll point out that neither device will have a keyboard as large as the Foleo's would have been.

Re: Can Has Foleo Now?
For me, the 2G EEE is worthy of consideration. It has 256 Meg of RAM, 2 Gig of flash, and no camera. No camera is a consideration when taking the device certain places. If the SD slot is SDHC compatible, I could add a huge SDHC to make the machine hold more.
