Let's hope they were smart enough to offer it in colors. It would not be a kids' phone if it's not offered in colors or at least skinnable. I sometimes get frustrated with my Treo 650 keys so I'm not sure I could go even smaller, but then again it is $99 rather than the $250+ we normally are expected to shell out for a palmos smartphone, even with a contract.

I'm not impressed by the design, either - but then Nokia has brought out some danged ugly low-end phones as well, IMHO, so clearly there's no accounting for taste

Looks good so far. The blackberry pearl is a well proportioned handheld and it's good that Palm is going in that direction while still retaining the essentials: full keyboard, Palm functionality. If this had more RAM and a faster processor, I'd be waiting in line to get one.

But since it's only the form factor that's different, I wouldn't abandon my 680 just yet. It has a bigger screen after all - more useful for viewing. The smaller keypad looks worrisome but it could improve one handed texting - which is slow on the Treo.

I'm curious with it's other features, what kind of camera does it have? Does it have 3G/wifi? What kind of memory card does it use? I hope it uses SD and not mini/micro SD, though.

Maybe my contacts are just mucky, but the pics I have seen look like the keys are recessed slightly?

Time for an eye exam or are they

I can see what you mean, but I think that's an optical illusion. You know how sometimes something that's curved outward, with the right lighting, can look like it's curved inward.

I'll not have you rambling on about the shape of my forehead. Oh, you mean the keys on the Centro I can't imagine them being concave as you'd need a stylus to operate a thumboard. The worst of both worlds

That's why I figured it must be my powers of observation

    Pics can be deceiving.

gsmarena.com says that it's only 16.4mm thick and has a 2mp camera. So far so good. Trouble is it's currently available for windows.
