New WM Newb!
Hello all, I have purchased an Axim x51 (520).
Therefore I suppose I can be considered a newbie on the WM side of things here. I have not "switched" to WM, but I have purchased this Axim to augment my TX. I want to view both sides of the PDA OS game. I have been a Palm user for years, never really exploring windows mobile devices. I will probably alternate PDAs, carrying my TX one day and my Axim the next. Maybe not if its too hard.
Anyways, do you all have any suggestions of software that are an absolute must for Pocket PC? Tips will also be appreciated
Also, if anyone knows of any engineering software sites, I am looking for a program that provides the steam tables for thermodynamics. I have found one program but it only has the properties of H2O. I need a full table that also includes refrigerants. Thanks

I hope I'm not hung as a traitor HC
I have no intention to leave Palm. My TX will be the PDA that I take with me everyday. I want to explore WM though so I can have a little better understanding of it when users post questions here. I like being in the know
From what I have seen so far, I really appreciate the ease of use of Palm. I had no idea... no idea. But I do like the Axim, it is a nice device for a gadgetmonger like myself.
My TX houses all of my info & data and everyday programs so it is definitely my primary PDA.

Re: New WM Newb!
MC: I read that PocketInformant is a must-have app on the PIM side. It doesn't come even close to what Datebk6 can do, but it is the best on WM side (again: I read this, no personal experience)
Oh and while you are at it: get StyleTap and transfer all your PalmOS apps
Serious now, I am sure WM users will pop in to give you their opinion. Maybe you can also do a series of articles like AKA did some time ago when he switched ? (I think it was AKA ?)Digital since 1980, handheld since 2001

Re: New WM Newb!
Definately get SPB pocket plus. It takes a lot of quirks from windows mobiles and makes the OS a LOT more user friendly. It also gives you the ability to open multiple browsers at once. I also recommend WifiPower - this program turns on wifi only when you press the wifi buttong (so you don't get the bluetooth radio on at the same time). A few others I like are avantgo (by default on a fresh windows mobile pda, your avantgo will use internet explorer for viewing news but it's much faster to use the avantgo browser. Finally get AIM UK (aol instant messenger uk version, it's free unlike the usa version). Adobe acrobat reader is also useful.
A few hacks, download PHM RegEdit. There's a way so that the date and time are shown in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Also, do you have a scroll wheel on the side? If you do, you'll notice that it's annoying to use in internet explorer because instead of going up and down the page, it acts as a tab button and scrolls through links by default. There's a registry edit that makes it scroll like a normal mousewheel.

Re: New WM Newb!
If I were to get the 700wx, it wouldn't be a toy. The Treo is my 'end all' of devices. I surely won't carry around something I do not trust. I trust Palm OS to do what I need it to do. Thus, it's going to be the 700p.
I wouldn't think of getting the 750, as Cingular / AT&T wireless are the bottom of the barrel for carriers in my area. Coverage is absolutely horrid, and price plans are out of this world. Sprint has the best data package around. $20 a month for EVDO. You can't go wrong with that.Current Device: Samsung Galaxy Note II - Rooted Stock ROM
