Wireless networking.
I have a WiFi card for my Axim and a Dlink wireless router. This is a very basic question but how do I acess my desktop from the wireless connection to the Axim. I am running Windows 2000 pro. I can acess the internet from my Axim via the card and router. I also can access the internet from the PC via a cable to the router but how do I get the two to share files etc.?
Thanks for your help.
BTW the latest version of Resco file explorer will show a network tree structure if one is available. Mine isn't though.

excellent question.
Can anyone answer the following for me:
If using WiFi....with your Axim....in conjuction with a wired desktop PC on the same network, do you get access to a network neighborhood type function....like you would on the desktop ?

There are two ways to access the network.
One is using file manager program like Resco Fike manager to map a drive or folder on your network. Of course, you have to make the drive or folder sharable before anyting can happen.
Another way is to use Terminal Service Client to login to the desktop using the Axim. But I think you need to upgrade to XP first because Terminal Server is included with XP. With Terminal server, you just have to set the name of the device that can do a remote login on to the desktop. In this case, you should enter the ID of the Axim.

if you don't want to upgrade to XP, you can use VNC server on your desktop and VNC viewer on your axim. This is open source software - so it is free
Here is the link: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/
Also before you are maping the drive - I suggest get Pocket Hosts program installed on your axim, so you could resolve your Desktop's IP to a name.CF Type II Air Freshener Card -- great for day-to-day PPC use
Now: AXIM X5 400. Previous PDAs: Audiovox MAestro

I use a program called PocketLan from Handango. It's $15 but it seems to work great. I've also heard of a free program called NetRunner but have never tried it.
