I went for two of these, actually: SoundHound and Sketchbook Mobile. I've been looking for a good music ID app for Android, and the other one is too damn cheap to pass up.

Okay, holy crap am I happy with SoundHound so far. I tried to stump it, and I only managed to do so using an out of print small label album from 13 years ago.

Yes. It can also show lyrics, search by title or artist, and allegedly (I haven't tried this) identify a song you sing or hum to it.

Wow, is Sound Hound wonderful. I had a bunch of obscure tracks in uncompressed audio a DJ had given me. I have been slowly working through them listening to lyrics and Googling and got a bunch labeled, but the ones that were left were pretty obscure. This app is nailing the ones that are left.

It even got an cover of Ramona by a dutch band which sounds very close to the Ramones version except a female backup vocal pops in. It's impossible to Google because of the song Ramona used by the Scott Pilgrim movie and the Ramones cover band called Ramona. On the opening notes it was stumped, but as soon as the female voice popped up, it got it.

I didn't even know about this kind of app. It's bloody magic!

LG Nexus 4: AT&T (Gophone), Android 4.4.2, stock and unrooted-- and probably staying that way.

I used to have an app for my WM phone called Music ID which was pretty good, but the Android replacements I'd tried weren't terribly great. SoundHound is way better though, and more feature rich than Music ID.

FWIW, Amazon appears to be price matching these. Not sure if it's every single one (of those Amazon actually has), but I'm seeing several crop up in the top paid list.
