Samsung's Netbooks Gone????
Hi guys,
I was checking out Samsung's website if they have new netbooks, but I found no netbooks. So I researched and found an small article telling Samsung stops making 10.1" computers. :\
Is it true that Samsung will be not making netbooks anymore?
:\
Thanks guys.

Re: Samsung's Netbooks Gone????
I don't know, but I suspect that netbooks are going away. I think the success of the iPad and other tablets have undercut the market for underpowered laptops.

Google (ASUS) Nexus 7, wifi+data (AT&T), Android 4.2.2, stock and un-rooted (so far
)
LG Nexus 4: AT&T (Gophone), Android 4.4.2, stock and unrooted-- and probably staying that way.

Re: Samsung's Netbooks Gone????
Too many players, not enough differentiation. Somebody has to lose. There is ample demand for netbooks, it just depends on what market you are in. We've planned our future purchases toward netbooks, and ditched the laptops. Cost is a huge factor, and the fact that they can still do the same things educationally, means there is no reason to pay much more for a laptop. Tablet devices present huge limitations in education, and as such, are not on the consideration list, at least at this point.
Current Device: Samsung Galaxy Note II - Rooted Stock ROM
Retired Device: HTC EVO Shift 4G - (Rooted) JellyBelly ROM 4.1.2
Tablet: Kindle Fire

Re: Samsung's Netbooks Gone????
Most people never bought netbooks for real productivity. They are way too underpowered to get any real work done.
Most people got them to supplement a real computer... and tablets are so much better at that!www.tiedotcafe.com

Just fyi, I really love netbooks. It's a shame that Samsung is abandoning netbook. Ah well, I guess my next small laptop will be 11.6".

Re: Samsung's Netbooks Gone????
Considering that for millions of office drones, writers, students et al, documents, spreadsheets and email and a few other tasks that don't require much power do constitute real productivity, I disagree. But tablets are almost as capable on all those counts (really, fully capable for my particular subset of needs), and I'm certainly looking to replace my aspire one with a tablet + keyboard dock.
It was a very nice netbook while I needed it though. Huge experience improvement over my last monster laptop w/ its 45 minute battery life and significant heft and at a fraction of the cost.I, for one, welcome our feline overlords.

Re: Samsung's Netbooks Gone????
Heh. People made fun of my extended 6 cell battery jutting out of my netbook, which gave me a little less than 6 hours on minimum brightness, no wifi and a quick screen timeout, but every now and then I see some reference to full laptops having an all day battery life, which I take to mean 8 hours. Sounds like science fiction to me, but I guess if you took the thinnest profile chipsets in a fairly large laptop package and packed 99% of the volume with lithium ion, maybe that'd work.
I, for one, welcome our feline overlords.

They say the new MacBook Pro can get up to 8 hrs battery life. My wife has not put hers to the test yet so not sure how accurate that is. I will probably never by another Laptop of any kind. I will stick with a Desktop when I am in the Office and my iPad for everything else. With a BT keyboard my iPad has become the perfect laptop replacement. The battery life is AWESOME! It. An replace my Laptop but not my Desktop.

Re: Samsung's Netbooks Gone????
My Samsung netbook's battery is pretty decent, about 9 hours of minimal use, about 6-7 hours of moderate use with WiFi.
