Default $250 quad core Tegra 3, 1280x800 IPS, rear camera, hdmi 7" ASUS Memo 370t 0.o

Asus Memo 370T changes the game by offering four cores for the price of two | CES 2012: Tablets and E-book Readers - CNET Blogs

I feel like the victim of an elaborate prank. That price can't possibly be true. After all, you can't sell a tegra 2ish device at that money unless you lock it down to your app store/book store/news stand, and you can't sell it for less unless you yank out the microsd slot on top of that.

The resolution bump alone is eye-opening. But adding video out (I assume that's what the micro hdmi is for), a rear camera and a less locked down/modified OS than the bookstore tabs... All that's left is a report on battery capacity/life. So how quickly should I return my camera-less, USB-hostless, video outless Nook Tablet and its locked bootloader?

My daughter will eventually inherit my Nook Color. I'm waiting for something like this.

Wow. If they offered a 10 inch version of this, I'd really be tempted to spend money I can't really afford.

I think the transformer prime is the 10" version. And only twice the price! Thankfully, I'm rather enamored with the 7" form factor.

If I were willing to go with a 7" device, I'd be much more tempted to get the new Samsung 7.7.

I sent an email to ASUS letting them know I was still interested in a keyboard even for a 7" device, but as one blogger pointed out, the model has a "T", so hopefully they're already on it.

I've more or less decided to return my NT, but I'm having pre-emptive separation anxiety. Not having a tablet was easier before I'd actually had one.

Is SAMOLED the main draw for you?

Can you elaborate on the keyboard you want? I have an HP Touchpad Wireless keyboard I picked up just after the Touchpad fire sale and have paired it with my Nook Color. Will a BT keyboard work for you, or are you thinking of something else?

Pointing out the "t" was a transformer reference. I'd prefer a USB keyboard, and in a wonderful ideal, I'd love to have one with a USB port for a mouse AND a battery to charge the tablet as the transformer dock has. ASUS' chosen key layout isn't my absolute favorite (truncated right shift key -- I spent a lot of time avoiding that when netbook shopping some years ago), but its other redeeming qualities shine pretty bright.

But before the 370t was announced, I was looking at a lot of non-ideal solutions. Wacky ones even. MacGyver would have been proud.

If ASUS doesn't provide a different dock or an adapter for the old dock, there are some 3rd party usb boards I'd probably consider before trying bluetooth.

I think that's the correct price. Asus announced a 7inch version of the Transformer Prime at ~about that price several days ago. The keyboard may well be usable. It took me a couple of days to get used to the keyboard on my 9-inch eee-pc, but after that I could type faster than on a standard keyboard. The attached keyboard will also protect the tablet when closed.
