I almost got excited (well, happy anyway). Let myself believe that color e-ink was finally here. This is just a tablet.

Re: NEWS: Barnes & Noble Announces Nook Color eReader
I was disappointed they didn't try out an advanced LCD tech (mirasol/pixel qi). It'd be a great feature to draw mainstream press coverage. The stubborn refusal of anyone to put that stuff in a mainstream device makes me wonder what the heck is wrong with it...? Supply issues? Technical issues? Cost issues? (one guiding principle of PQ design was not to get too complicated so that present LCD manufacturing facilities could build their screen without much adaptation. I don't know about mirasol)
And I wonder if sideloading and the Amazon marketplace will fit on this device. I don't wonder too much since it kind of sounds like they want a controlled nook experience, not an android experience. I think any power user that wants to buy books from B&N is better off getting an iPad, windows 7 or another android tablet. This is strictly for the non-techie crowd (and the hackers).I, for one, welcome our feline overlords.

I am waiting for color e-ink. I love my kindle and the battery lasts for weeks for reading.
I would rather surf the ocean than the net. Cowabunga!
