Default Windows Media Player detection Palm Treo 680

I have the following problem. My Windows Media Player 11, doesn't detect my Palm as a portable device it can synch with. I am running WinXp SP2.

I have tried it on my backup pc which runs on Windows2000 SP4 with Media Player 10.0. It does detect my Palm however will synch it creates on error and removes all my files from my Library.

    Anyone have a sollution?

Upgrade to Pocket Tunes Deluxe for syncing with WMP, details in User Guide at pockettunes.com.

Have they addressed the issues with WMP11? I did a quick look at their site, but didn't see any mention of a fix...

In ptunes deluxe, you can sync with WMP 11. To my knowledge this was never address in 3.x.

They still say this on the requirements page:

Important note about Windows Media Player 11: We are aware of several problems with Windows Media Player 11 that causes synchronization with Pocket Tunes to work incorrectly in many cases. We ask that all customers refrain from updating to Windows Media Player 11 until we have added it to our compatibility statement. We currently have a beta version available that works with Windows Media Player 11 on most devices.
Has anyone tried the beta version? Just curious.

I am using Pocket tunes v3.18. I understand the problems with WMP 11, but it still doesn't explain the problems with WMP 10 and Windows2000. When syncing WMP notes an unknown error and removes all my Mp3-files from my hard drive.

From the Pocket Tunes User Guide:

"Pocket Tunes Deluxe includes all the features of Pocket Tunes Basic and adds WMA playback, online music store support, crossfading, gapless playback, bookmarks, and Internet audio."

"If you have Windows Media Player 10 and you have a device that is supported for playing music from online music stores (see the Requirements & Compatibility section above), then you can copy music using a number of applications designed to work with portable media devices. This includes Windows Media Player 10, Napster, Rhapsody, and Yahoo! Music Engine, among many others. For these applications, please follow their instructions for copying music to a portable device."
