User error changing from VIIX to 515...
I bought a m515 over the weekend, and in my excitment, I screwed up the exchange of the data from my VIIx. I now have 2 distinct user names, one for each of the units. The data is still on the VIIx, but not on the 515. However, somehow I have installed the softwear on the 515, including all of my wireless applications and 3rd party softwear.
I have read the earlier post about changing from a IIIC to a 505 and it confirmed the idea that I already had about doing a hard re-set on the 515, giving it the same user name as the VIIx and doing a hotsync. However, when I try to hotsync the VIIx, I get a "table21.DLL" error, and the hotsync ends and closes.
My question is, am I missing something? I would still like to use the VIIx after this is all over with. Can I change the user name of the 515 after sending over the data?
Any feedback will be appreciated.

There are a number of ways to approach this. If the error occurs during the Datebook sync, set the Datebook conduit to "Do nothing" and verify that you can get through a HotSync. Then install dbscan and run it to find any errors in the Datebook database. With any luck, it will fix the database, which is likely to be the source of the problem. If that doesn't work, let me know, and we'll try some other things.
Once that is straightened out, hard reset the m515 and do a HotSync, choosing the user name that you used on the VIIx. The m515 should now have the same data as the VIIx. (If the m515 is unstable after loading all the VIIx files, we'll have to take a different approach - again, let me know.)
Now hard reset the VIIx and give it a different user name - don't try to use two Palms with the same user name!
An alternative is to give the m515 a different user name, install the apps from the VIIx's Backup folder to the m515, and import the Palm Desktop info. The downside to this approach is that any apps that have their registration codes tied to your HotSync name will show up as unregistered on the m515, and you will have to either purchase them again or ask the developers for new registration codes.Jennifer

no luck.....
I tried the suggestions with no luck.
It appears as if the VIIx is hanging up on the Expense data base, not the Datebook. That's when I get the error message that I described above. The desk top quits the hotsnych, and closes the hotsynch manager.
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Will it run if you set the Expense conduit to "Do nothing"? Do you use the Expense app? Have you changed the data in the Expense app recently?

finally, a hotsnyc
i was able to get a complete hotsnyc by setting "expense" to "do nothing" as you suggested.
i occassionally use the expense function, but not regularly. the information that is corrupted is not important to me at this point. the only change that i can remember making prior to the problem, was playing around with the icons in the desktop. However, i cant remember for sure if that was before or after all of this started.
is there a way that i can delete this corrupt information, so that i can get full use of my unit?
one other potential issue that i noticed. i have Pocket Quicken on the VIIx, and it hasnt synced over to the 515. I assumed that issue was related to the fact that I also have OneTouchPass one the VIIx (security softwear). However, OneTouchPass is on the 515, and running correctly. I assume I will have to talk with the softwear company about this problem, but I am also wondering if this is connected to the hotsync issue. Any feedback is appreciated.
I appologize for the protracted process, I have been on the road for a few days.
thanks for your help.

To fix the Expense sync, try this (I am assuming that you don't mind losing the data): Delete the Expense.dat file from the c:\Palm\<username>\Expense folder. Then set the Expense conduit to "Desktop overwrites handheld" (don't check the "Set as default" box) and see if it will sync.
As for the Pocket Quicken problem, make sure the Pocket Quicken conduit is in the list when you click on "Custom" in the HotSync Manager. If it is in the list, make sure it is set to Synchronize. If it's not in the list, reinstall the conduit.Jennifer
