    Default m505 4.1 Upgrade file request

    Thanks to HP, I guess, The link for the 4.1 upgrade on the m505 is gone. Does anyone have a copy they can send me?

    I ran a search of my own, and I cannot find it either. Were they offering a download or a copy on CD? I'd try giving HP support a call. The rep might not know what Palm OS 4.1 is, but its worth a shot. I don't believe I have that upgrade personally.

    I will try. The m505 was given to me to replace my iixe, and I just discovered that there was a 4.1 for the unit.

    The 4.1 ROM upgrade is a application that upgrades the ROM of your m505 completely and was written to be used with Windows OS 98, 98SE, or Win2000. There those tha have reported success with XP, but not without issues, and the need to usually set XP to run in compatibility mode.

    The are two versions, a m500 and m505, these are different for obvious reasons, (m505 is color).

    Also, if your m505 is a multi language unit, (EFIGS), then it will become English only after the upgrade.

    I had versions of both on work platform, but unfortunately those systems are long gone since my employer was sold and bought a couple of times with platform upgrades on each conversion.

    If I run across a copy on one of my home units I will let you know. Since I am caring for grandson, I do not expect to be back at home system until next week some time.

    Till then keep us posted if you have success via another method or have questions before pursuing.

    Would the file for 4.1 when I upgraded my m130 be the one? I'll search an old auxiliary drive to see if I saved the file. I used Win98 back then and the PC died in 2005 but I backed up the HD before its death.

    Wow, that's funny. I had forgotten I had done that already and was going to go looking for them in the Internet Archive, but hadn't had time until just now.

    I've downloaded the files now just in case.
