Trouble syncing with windows7
I have a Palm M500. Also, I have a 64 bit laptop computer with windows 7 on it. I cannot get hotsync to work. It will try to connect but gives a msg saying it cannot connect to desktop.
Anybody, any ideas what is wrong?

Re: Trouble syncing with windows7
There are no conduits for a 64 bit computer. If you had 7 pro or higher you could run xp mode and it would work. The only wireless solution for your device would be an IR dongle. This might work for you and you would need a free application from Pimlico software called PalmHotsyncSetup if you are using palm desktop 6.2 on your computer.

Re: Trouble syncing with windows7
Personally I would load an older version of windows into an emulator like VMWARE player, and setup your hotsync config in there. That way every time you upgrade to a new version of Windows you don't have to worry about future compatibility - since your whole palm setup will be on the vmware image (which is also convenient for backing up since you can just burn the image to a dvd or cd and restore it should you ever have issues with your palm software).
There is no native driver support for 64 bit windows, but if you install a 32 bit windows within vmware you can access the usb ports directly from there and install the 32 bit drivers.David T Kiley

Re: Trouble syncing with windows7
I'm using vmware on linux myself to do the same thing - but it should be basically the same within windows. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I can try to help. Basically Windows 98 - XP should all provide good compatibility with Palm Desktop - 2000 or XP would probably be the easiest to setup.
