Palmos 4.1 upgrade not on the palm web site anymore
Hello,
I just "bricked" my m500 while trying to reflash a EFIG OS on my m500 using an old jacksprat flash backup .
Now my device is locked.
- a few seconds after having pushed the reset "button", I see à very quick glitch on the screen then nothing.
- I try to push both scrolling buttons while doing the reset, then the screen is grambled but windows does a "dong ding and the palm is dectected.
I hope I can rescue it by reflashing the OS using the 4.1 upgrade software but I do not have the downloded file.
the links to the palm web site on this post are now dead ...
Palm O.S. 4.1 Upgrade?
I registered as a developer a http://www.accessdevnet.com/
I could download the rom for use with the emulator but
- I'm not sure they can be flashed in a real device
- I have no flashing tool.
Would it be possible for someone to send me a copy of the upgrade 4.1 multilingual if possible ?
Please contact me by email:

Re: Palmos 4.1 upgrade not on the palm web site anymore
Palm does not own the operating system. A company named Access does, and it would be the discretion for Access to make it available. Also, any models that used those versions of the Palm operating system that Palm sold are no longer supported models and therefore Palm is released for the need to keep that download available (which would be somewhere around a 7-8yr old link, yeesh).
I would recommend doing a search via search engines for it if you do not have success here. That's a pretty old update you are looking for, though I'm sure someone has it more readily than Palm or Access. If your smartphone is so smart, then why are you spending so much time learning it? Shouldn't it learn you and adapt to your leanings?

Re: Palmos 4.1 upgrade not on the palm web site anymore
Actually, as you can see by going to the internet archive, Palm had the download as of Feb 2008. They may actually still have it. When they recently redid their website, they broke a lot of links, including vast portins of their Knowledge base, which wasn't entirely intentional.
Unfortunately, I doubt they will get the link back up at this point and all google references link back to the old page that you can view in the internet archive but not download from.

Re: Palmos 4.1 upgrade not on the palm web site anymore
Yes it works !!!
I don't find the exact link back..
What I did is start with the link to a cached page of feb 2008 where the upgrade is described.
I extracted to excat file name from the cached page and asked google what he knwos about it.
Then I inspected ALL the hits returned by google, and I think that on the second page of results, I found a site ( kind of download.com) having the files .
Thanks to your help I managed to fix my m500.
The only issue is that I still have is that I have to choose between
- 4.1 in english
- 4.0 in french ( jacksprat backup of the original rom contents)
.. need to search for a m500 4.1 EFGI rom ( or jacksprat backup) for my device
Regards,
Etienne

Re: Palmos 4.1 upgrade not on the palm web site anymore
I got the installer to work on XP under compatiblity mode, but I can't get the ROM to install. The problem I am having is that it can't detect the device. Any suggestions?
